Sweden Lapland - Nordic chic in a winter wonderland

Snow wonders, northern lights, Sámi culture, unforgettable nature experiences

Swedish Lapland, the Arctic region on the Arctic Circle, promises fascinating nature experiences with a touch of adventure in unspoilt wilderness, with Nordic culture, top-class architectural hotel highlights, cosmopolitan, caring hosts and Arctic cuisine, the hip, trendy New Nordic Cuisine, the taste of Scandinavia. Swedish Lapland is endless forests, rolling hills, roaring rivers, rural romance, incredible auroras and marvellous snowy landscapes in winter, white nights in summer when it never gets dark. But above all, it is the perfect place for unforgettable adventures. In some parts of Swedish Lapland there are more sled dogs than inhabitants. Experience for yourself the great fun of crossing frozen lakes, snow-covered forests or mountains with your four-legged friends. Nordic cuisine promises honestly prepared food, freshly made from local produce, completely natural, because the purity of nature and the many great ingredients are right on the doorstep, adapted over centuries to life in the Arctic environment. The Northern Lights, the Aurora Borealis, are also unique: not only does Abisko, Swedish Lapland, lie within the Aurora Oval, but the surrounding mountains keep the sky clear and there is hardly any light pollution. This is probably the best place in the world for the Aurora Borealis. Immerse yourself in Sami culture, up close! In Sweden, the Sami cover the northernmost part, a nation without borders, but not without a history, culture and language that is very much intertwined with the reindeer.

"The snowy landscapes in the Arctic Circle are simply magical and unique in the world, as is the Nordic design and architecture. There's this one hotel room that looks like a bird's nest and another that resembles a UFO. Then there's a hotel in the trees and one built entirely out of ice and snow - the (!) original in the world. And then there's the one where the ruins of an old railway workshop run right through the kitchen and the wine cellar is an old grease pit. And then there's the hotel in the centre of the city that purifies the air like a whole forest. We are travelling between excellent accommodation options in Swedish Lapland."
