In the morning, you will visit the impressive Bulguksa Temple, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. It is considered a masterpiece of temple architecture from the Silla period and harmoniously combines spirituality and architecture. The two main staircases with their 33 steps of enlightenment, which are revered as national treasures, are particularly impressive.
Your route then takes you to Seokguram Grotto on Mount Tohamsan. The grotto complex, which is part of the Bulguksa Temple, is home to one of the most important Buddha images in Korea and offers a quiet, impressive place for contemplation.
In the afternoon, take a trip to Haeinsa Temple on Mount Gayasan. The temple is famous for the Tripitaka Koreana - the most complete collection of Buddhist scriptures, which were engraved on around 80,000 wooden tablets between 1237 and 1248. The storage buildings of the Janggyeong Panjeon, built in the 15th century, are still used today to store these unique woodblock prints. Thanks to ingenious ventilation and conservation techniques, they have been remarkably well preserved over the centuries. The entire temple complex was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995 and is one of Korea's most important cultural treasures.
