Travelling to Peru, Lima
Flight with Air France or KLM to Peru. After a flight of around 16 hours, you will arrive at the airport in Lima. Alternatively, fly with Lufthansa to Bogota or Panama City and from there continue with a partner airline to Lima. Reception and welcome at the airport. You will then be taken by private transfer to the stylish Hotel Belmond Miraflores Park. The stunning view of the Pacific Ocean and its location in a green garden make the hotel a true urban retreat next to the cultural jewels of the city. Lima
Would you like to start this first day in Peru in a sporty way? Swim a few lengths in the swimming pool on the roof terrace of your luxury hotel and enjoy the breathtaking view before savouring a relaxed breakfast.
You will then begin your exploration tour of the city with a private tour of Plaza Martín and Plaza Mayor. Framed by stately buildings such as the government palace, the town hall, the archiepiscopal palace and the cathedral, the Plaza Mayor is still the most important square in Lima. From here, your route takes you to the Larco Herrera archaeological museum, where many pre-Columbian finds are on display. Pisco tasting at the Pisco Museum in the late afternoon and return to the hotel. The evening ends with dinner in the trendy restaurant "Astrid & Gastón" or in the "Central", we will be happy to reserve a table for you (dinner not included).
Lima - Cuzco
After your short city trip in trendy Lima, you will set off today on your first historical exploration tour to the Inca capital of Cuzco, located 3,400 metres above sea level in the middle of the magnificent Andean landscape.
You fly from Lima to Cuzco in around one and a half hours. Your local tour guide will be waiting for you at the airport. He will accompany you by private transfer to the stylish colonial hotel Belmond Monasterio.
Enjoy a free afternoon at the hotel and marvel at the hotel's large art collection or relax with a massage in the spa. Or get a first overview of your new surroundings and stroll through the alleyways of the city to the main square, which is close to the hotel, and discover the lively city with its old and modern architecture, markets, galleries and numerous restaurants. Cuzco
Today you will explore the wonderful city of Cuzco together with your tour guide. Let your guide show you the picturesque centre of the Andean city and discover colonial buildings that were built on Inca foundations and are now protected by UNESCO. In the afternoon, you will go on an excursion to the impressive Inca monuments Sacsayhuaman, Kenko and Tambo Machay. Walk and dinner at the Cicciolina restaurant.
Machu Picchu
A highlight of the highlights is on your schedule for today: a visit to the legendary Machu Picchu. Is travelling to the Inca city a long-awaited dream of yours? You will finally fulfil it today.
The Belmond Hiram Bingham luxury train takes you on an adventurous narrow-gauge railway through the beautiful landscape of the Urubamba Valley, the sacred valley of the Incas. The luxury train, named after the discoverer of Machu Picchu, is equipped with elegant 1920s-style carriages, making the journey to Machu Piucchu a special experience in itself. The culinary highlight of the train journey is a delicious brunch accompanied by melodious Andean music.
On arrival, you will be transferred to the world-famous Inca fortress of Machu Picchu, which is spectacularly situated on a mountain ridge in the Andes. Buenos Aires
On the private tour through the city, you will visit the most important sights in the morning. Among other things, discover the famous cemetery "Cementerio de la Recoleta", where the legendary Eva Perón found her final resting place, the Plaza de Mayo with the famous "Casa Rosada", the Presidential Palace and the mighty Teatro Colón, one of the most famous opera houses in the world. You can get a little refreshment in between at the legendary "Tortoni" café.
Afterwards, immerse yourself in the unmistakable flair of the San Telmo district with its small houses, cosy squares and antique shops. In the evening, you can marvel at the fire and passion of the dancers at a professional tango show in the legendary tango temple "Gala Tango" and enjoy a delicious dinner.
Buenos Aires - Iguazú
Masses of water thunder down the gigantic Iguazú Falls, sweeping away anything that dares to dive into their waters. Immediately after your flight to Iguaçu, you can watch from ingenious walkways as the mighty waterfalls on the Argentinian side plunge into the depths before you.
After this first fantastic view of the impressive waterfalls, you drive to their Brazilian side and check into your colonial room at the Belmond Hotel Das Cataratas. The luxury hotel is the only hotel in Brazil's Iguaçua National Park and is located within earshot and within sight of the breathtaking waterfalls. At sunrise and dusk, you have the magnificent natural spectacle all to yourself.

Iguazú
Today is all about the waterfalls. Even from the breakfast table, you can take a look at this opulent work of water art. Perhaps you would like to get up early and take your first walk to the waterfalls before breakfast? On a guided hike in the morning, you can visit the natural spectacle from the Brazilian side. From a height of 60 metres, the masses of water plunge into the tropical jungle in 275 individual cataracts over a width of almost 2.5 kilometres - a picture of majestic beauty. In the afternoon, you can see them once again from above: a helicopter flight gives you a breathtaking view over the waterfalls and shows you their full extent. The helicopter flight is not the only exciting adventure tour on this day if you want to be more active and not enjoy the pool. You can then choose between various optional tours through the national park, such as the Macuco boat safari or rafting - both of course in the vicinity of the waterfalls.
Rio de Janeiro
Today it's time to say goodbye to the rainforest and the roaring waterfalls of Iguassu. At midday, you will fly directly to Rio de Janeiro in around two hours, where you will stay in the legendary "Copacabana Palace" on the world-famous Copacabana beach in the first row.

Rio de Janeiro

Then it's off to the trendy Santa Teresa neighbourhood, the heart of Rio with a dream view of the city. You will also get a unique perspective of the cosmopolitan city on the optional helicopter tour in the afternoon. You should round off the day with an exquisite dinner at Pedro Siqueria's trendy restaurant "Puro" or at "Satyricon" in Ipanema (dinner not included). Rio de Janeiro - return flight to Germany

German nationals do not require a visa to enter Brazil as long as the duration of the trip does not exceed 90 days. A passport valid for at least six months is sufficient.
Climate:
Brazil is a country of diversity, also in terms of climate. The north is tropical, the centre subtropical and in the south, travellers experience seasons - sometimes even snow. A large part of the country lies in the tropics, which means that temperatures do not fluctuate greatly. Heavy rainfall is to be expected in the Amazon basin region. Due to its size and different climate zones, there is no single best time to visit Brazil.
Vaccinations:
The Federal Foreign Office recommends being vaccinated against yellow fever before travelling. No proof is required for entry as long as you are travelling from Europe. The Federal Foreign Office also advises you to have the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute (www.rki.de) and complete them.
Entry & Visa:
German citizens require a passport that must be valid for six months from the date of entry. Tourists can stay in Peru for 90 days every six months without a visa.
Climate:
Peru lies in three landscape zones, each with its own climatic characteristics:
The "Costa", the smallest coastal region in terms of area, is very dry and agriculture is often only possible in river oases. The capital Lima and the Atacama Desert, the driest desert in the world, are also located in this region. Temperatures in the Costa vary between 12 °C in winter and 35 °C in summer.
In the highlands of the Andes, known as the "Sierra", the average temperature at 3,300 metres is only around 11 °C all year round. From October to April, heavy rainfall can occur in this region, which tends to have little rainfall. Cusco and the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu are located in the Sierra.
The "Selva" rainforest region to the east of the Andes makes up the largest part of Peru at around 60 per cent. The Peruvian rainforest is dense and almost impenetrable, with rivers being the only arteries. The average annual temperature in this region is 26 °C and the annual precipitation reaches up to 3,800 mm. The transition from the sierra is smooth, as there is a tropical mountain forest with a milder climate. Peru's largest nature reserve, Pacaya-Samiria, is located in the Selva.
Vaccinations:
There are no vaccination requirements for Peru. However, the World Health Organisation recommends that all travellers over the age of 9 months are vaccinated against yellow fever in good time, i.e. at least 10 days before entering the country. This applies in particular to travel to the designated yellow fever endemic areas of Peru, such as the entire Peruvian Amazon region and the areas east of the Andes below 2,300 metres. The Federal Foreign Office also recommends checking and completing the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults when travelling (www.rki.de).
Entry & Visa:
German citizens require a passport to enter Argentina. It is recommended that it is valid beyond the duration of the planned stay. A visa is not required for entry as a tourist for stays of up to 90 days. The same entry requirements apply to Chile with one difference: the passport must be valid for at least six months upon entry.
Climate:
The Chilean part of Patagonia has a rather cool and humid climate, characterised by the western Andes and the Valdivian rainforest. The Argentinian part, on the other hand, is very dry and windy. The climate on Tierra del Fuego is very different: while heavy rain in the west allows a temperate rainforest to thrive, the persistent drought in the east of the island creates a semi-desert.
Vaccinations:
Although Argentina is a yellow fever-endemic country, vaccination is only recommended for forested areas below 2,300 metres above sea level on the border with Brazil and Paraguay in the north and north-east of the country. No vaccination is required for travelling to Buenos Aires and Patagonia. There are no vaccination requirements for Chile. For both countries, however, the Federal Foreign Office recommends that the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute (www.rki.de) for children and adults on the occasion of a trip.
