SJourney - Vietnam's first luxury train

Enjoy your first breakfast in your home on wheels. You then continue on a traditional sampan boat. You will travel through the "dry Halong Bay", a landscape characterised by steeply rising limestone formations, which you can admire from the river. The destination of your boat trip is Hoa Lu, the old capital of Vietnam.

The day's history continues with your arrival at Hoa Lu, a historic site known for its well-preserved temples and stunning backdrop of karst mountains and verdant rice paddies. You will be transported back in time amidst the dramatic limestone peaks, where the legacy of the Dinh and Le dynasties lives on in the form of temples and historical sites. Lunch is served in this breathtaking setting. In the afternoon, continue by bike: you will get to know the idyllic landscape at a leisurely pace. Discover the hidden gem of the Thai Vi Temple during your cycle tour and continue to Co Vien Lau, where time seems to stand still. Return to your elegant train in the evening.

During breakfast, the beautiful landscape of central Vietnam passes by your train window. You leave the train in Quang Binh to visit the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You glide across the tranquil Son River by boat. As you glide gently through the water, you will be enchanted by the breathtaking landscape. The mountains rise majestically on the banks, their rugged beauty reflected in the still water. Float along the underground river of Phong Nha Cave and marvel at the intricate formations of stalactites and stalagmites that have been moulded by time. At Nuoc Mooc Spring, a hidden gem amidst the lush greenery of the national park, enjoy a refreshing lunch amidst the soothing sounds of nature. The crystal-clear water of the spring invites you to take a cool dip or go kayaking. You return to your train in the afternoon.

After breakfast, take perhaps the most typical Vietnamese mode of transport: explore Hue's imperial past on a Vespa. Firstly, you will visit the Forbidden City: behind the palace walls, you will immerse yourself in the rich history of the city. You will then stop at a village where bronze casters ply their trade. Afterwards, you can admire the legacy of a bygone era in the Tiger Arena (Hổ Quyền) and the Elephant Shrine.

Lunch is served in a traditional, tastefully restored garden house. Dine amidst the elegant architecture of the house and savour dishes that reflect the city's culinary heritage - a feast for the eyes and the palate.

In the afternoon, take a gentle boat ride on the Perfume River, which offers you a unique view of the landscapes and rural life in Hue. At your destination, explore the village of Thanh Tien, famous for paper flower making for 300 years. Observe this meticulous craft, learn about its importance for festivals and rituals and perhaps try your hand at making these colourful flowers yourself.

In the evening, you are expected at the Ben Xuan Garden House - a place where the cultural heritage of Hue comes alive through architecture, music and culinary delights. The train stays overnight in Hue.

During your gourmet breakfast, the train begins its ascent over the picturesque Hai Van Pass: lush valleys and the shimmering East Sea pass by outside the window. Your excursion today begins with a jeep ride: feel the gentle breeze in your hair as you head to Cam Kim Island, a world of traditional crafts and age-old practices. You will meet boat builders and marvel at the intricate art of basket weaving. You will then glide by bamboo boat through the winding waterways of the lush water coconut forests. This unique ecosystem provides a tranquil backdrop to your Hoi An adventure. After lunch at an organic farm, head to the ancient town of Hoi An, a beautiful example of a historic trading town. This mixture of Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese architecture has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You stroll through the enchanting old town and wander through the bustling market. There is also time to visit the many craft shops and galleries before returning to the comfort of your luxurious train at sunset. Refresh yourself in the privacy of your cabin as the landscape changes outside your window. Indulge in an exquisite dinner on board with Vietnamese and international culinary creations.

Once again, you change to a boat: On board the elegant Emperor Cruise, you will glide through the turquoise waters of Nha Trang Bay and go ashore to visit a traditional fishing village. Afterwards, stop for a swim at the pristine Sỏi Beach: swim in the warm sea, try your hand at kayaking or admire the colourful underwater world while snorkelling. After lunch on board the Emperor Cruise, visit Nha Trang - the church, Loc Tho Pagoda and Mr Hai's Ancient House are well worth seeing. Afterwards, you will learn about the finer points of Vietnamese cuisine during a practical cookery course. The culinary experience ends with a tea soirée. You will be back on your luxurious train in the evening.

In the morning, head to the serene Ta Cu Mountain, a revered spiritual site in Binh Thuan that has been an important pilgrimage site for Vietnamese Buddhists since the 18th century. Once at the summit, discover the architectural marvel of Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the city.

Afterwards, the Fish Sauce Museum will give you an insight into the centuries-old production methods and the deep cultural significance of fish sauce - it is considered the soul of countless dishes.

After lunch, drive towards Phan Thiet and marvel at the fascinating white sand dunes. This unexpected desert-like landscape offers endless photo opportunities. Climb the dunes or opt for an exciting sandboarding or quad bike adventure.

As the sun sets, you will reach the ancient Poshanu Tower. This historic Cham structure is a testament to the rich heritage of the region and provides a stunning backdrop for your farewell dinner. Dine al fresco in the soft light, surrounded by the timeless beauty of the tower. Savour a delicious meal of fresh seafood, local delicacies and dishes that reflect the diverse culinary influences of Phan Thiet.

During the night, your luxury train returns to Ho Chi Minh City.
