Day 1: Flight to Yerevan

You fly to Erewan in the morning, midday or evening. On arrival, a private transfer will take you to your hotel. Day 2: Yerevan

Today you will discover the lively soul of Yerevan, one of the oldest permanently inhabited cities in the world. Open squares, street cafés, markets and impressive architecture characterise the cityscape. From the opera house to the sparkling Swan Lake and the majestic Ararat, you can enjoy impressive views. A highlight is the Matenadaran with over 18,000 manuscripts: a true treasure of Armenian culture. Centuries of knowledge unfold between the heaviest and lightest books. Finally, you will visit a traditional brandy factory, experience the art of distillation and taste the famous Armenian brandy, which was once the only brandy outside France to bear the name Cognac.

Day 3: Yerevan - Gyumri

After breakfast, you will first visit the mystical ruins of Zvartnots: a masterpiece of the 7th century that still inspires awe with its visionary architecture. In Echmiadzin, the spiritual heart of Armenia, you will feel the deep religious power of this place where, it is said, Christ himself promised to build a church. The frescoes tell stories spanning generations, every detail a testimony to centuries of religious tradition.

Pure Armenian hospitality awaits you for lunch: in the „Cross of Armenian Unity“, a charming retired couple serves authentic specialities with passion. You then visit the venerable church of St Hripsime, simple, strong and of timeless beauty. Day 4: Dilijan

After breakfast, discover Gyumri, a city full of soul and traditional architecture from the 18th and 19th centuries. During a photo shoot in traditional „taraz“, you will immerse yourself in history and learn more about the symbolism of these garments. Afterwards, visit the extraordinary Spiderweb Gallery with its delicate works of art. In the remote village of Fioletovo, you will meet the Molokans, who will give you an insight into their ancient traditions over samovar and tea. Day 5: Dilijan - Yerevan

After breakfast, drive to Lake Parz, a tranquil natural idyll surrounded by dense forests. The reflective water surfaces and tranquil atmosphere make the place seem almost fairytale-like, perfect for a relaxing walk through the peaceful landscape.

You will then take part in a cookery course and learn how to prepare the traditional Armenian gata, a sweet pastry with a delicate crust and fine aroma. Your journey continues to Haghartsin Monastery, hidden in the forest, whose medieval architecture and spiritual tranquillity will impress you.

Via the lakeside road of Lake Sevan, you reach the 9th century Sevanavank Monastery, which sits impressively on a peninsula. Enjoy an unforgettable moment with a view of the huge mountain lake before returning to Yerevan and checking back into your familiar hotel.

Day 6: Yerevan

Today your journey takes you to Chor Virap Monastery, a spiritual place at the foot of majestic Mount Ararat, where, according to legend, Noah's ark stopped. On a clear day, you will enjoy an impressive view of the holy mountain, which has a special significance in Armenian culture.

You will then explore the bird cave in Areni, the site of a 6100-year-old vine and the oldest leather shoe in the world, fascinating testimonies to ancient history. At the Trinity Canyon winery, you will learn all about Armenia's centuries-old wine tradition during a tasting.

We continue to Norawank Monastery, hidden in a red rock landscape, before ending the day at the Gumi Schuka market in Yerevan with local specialities and warm hospitality.

Day 7: Yerevan

After breakfast, discover Levon's underground masterpiece: in 20 years, he created a 21-metre-long labyrinth under his house using simple tools: an impressive testimony to creativity and perseverance.

In Garni, visit the Hellenistic temple from the 1st century, the only pagan temple in Armenia that survived Christianisation. Let yourself be enchanted by the sounds of the Armenian duduk and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains.

At the River Azat, you will experience the „Symphony of Stones“, the fascinating basalt organ, before getting to know Armenian cuisine at first hand while preparing lavash and brduj.

The Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site carved into the rock, impresses with its mystical atmosphere, and you may even witness a christening or wedding. End the day with an unforgettable farewell dinner accompanied by traditional music.

Day 8: Return flight

Private transfer to the airport. Return flight to Germany/Austria/Switzerland.

Climate

Armenia has a continental climate with distinct seasonal differences. Summers are hot and dry, especially in the lowlands such as the Ararat Plain, while the mountainous regions remain pleasantly mild. Winters are cold, especially at higher altitudes, with snow in the mountain regions, which makes winter sports possible. Spring and autumn are mild and offer the best conditions for travelling and hiking, with colourful nature and pleasant temperatures. Due to the country's geographical diversity, the weather can vary greatly from region to region: From hot, dry valleys to humid, forested areas in the north and east.
