In the morning, immerse yourself in the religious life of Myanmar. A multitude of beautiful Buddhist temples will try to enchant you with their shining gold. On your morning city walk, you will have the opportunity to see the largest temple in Chinatown, the Kheng Hoch Keong Temple. But it's not just Buddhism that impresses with its amazing temples. Hinduism, Islam, Christianity and Judaism also characterise the cityscape of Yangon and so you will find mosques, churches, Hindu temples and a synagogue on your way to the imposing Sule Paya Pagoda. Your trained tour guide will explain everything you need to know about the various religions in Yangon and give you an insight into local Burmese traditions such as ancestor worship and astrology. Like religions, cuisine also characterises the cityscape. Stop at small street stalls during your walk, sample local delicacies and strike up a conversation with the locals.
After an eventful morning, you will return to the hotel for a short break at lunchtime. This is because you will continue your city tour in the afternoon. This time by bus. But not just any bus. The journey on the "Elephant Coach" is an experience in itself. The old Chevrolet bus was once used as a means of transport for dignitaries and was restored after the war into a luxurious gem decorated with Burmese handicrafts. The sightseeing tour in the comfortable luxury bus takes you to numerous sights of the city as well as a few lesser-known places. Immerse yourself in Myanmar's history and discover faded colonial buildings, marvel at the picturesque Karaweik Mountains and immerse yourself in local life at Mawtin Pier. After discovering numerous selected attractions, you will reach the golden temple of the Shwedagon Pagoda at sunset. Together with the locals, you will celebrate a very special ceremony here, during which hundreds of small oil lamps are lit - an unforgettable experience.
