Upon arrival in Edinburgh, check-in at the hotel. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the Royal Yacht Britannia for a tour. In the evening you will experience the famous Military Tattoo. We have reserved Premier Seats for you. Firstly, the Tattoo takes place in front of the illuminated Edinburgh Castle - what a dramatic backdrop! Almost 1,000 musicians, bagpipers, drummers, singers and dancers perform at the Edinburgh Tattoo on the castle forecourt.

The gateway to the Scottish Highlands: Edinburgh. The city offers you plenty of variety with Michelin-starred cuisine, boutiques, the converted harbour and, of course, the castle. Explore the narrow streets of the Old Town and the Royal Mile on foot. Here you will visit Edinburgh Castle, a fascinating historic fortress and iconic landmark perched high on the cliffs above the city of Edinburgh. Here you can see one of the oldest cannons in the world and catch a breathtaking view of the Scottish capital.
Not far away, in Leith harbour, you can visit the Royal Yacht Britannia. Built as a floating palace for the royal family, the imposing three-master has travelled more than a million nautical miles.
Meet your tour guide at the hotel. Your private car will start your round trip with a drive to the Fife region. You will stop in St Andrews for a few hours to see the sights such as St Andrews Castle, the ruins of St Andrews Cathedral, West Sand Beach (where Cho Chariots of Fire was filmed), the Old Course and the British Golf Museum. Have lunch in one of the city's many cafes or pubs. Continue through the Perthshire countryside. You will stop at Sco-ne Palace, where you will have time to visit the magnificent rooms and grounds and take a walk around the place where Scottish kings were once crowned. In Pitlochry, you will walk through the popular Victorian town. Continue along Atholl Road and to Queen's View, a vantage point over Loch Tummel. You arrive in Braermar in the late afternoon. Check in at the hotel and free time at leisure.

After breakfast, you set off to explore the beautiful central Highlands. The first stop is Speyside, Scotland's most important whisky region. Fertile farmland is ideal for growing barley, which in combination with the soft water from the mountains forms the basis for the delicious malt whiskies. After a tour of a distillery with tasting, the tour continues to the romantic 14th century Cawdor Castle - still well preserved with its iron gate, moat and drawbridge and towers. After exploring the castle, you can take a walk through the formal gardens.
Finally, we head to Brodie Castle & Estate, another impressive historic property near Forres. The castle dates back to the 16th century and is surrounded by extensive grounds and beautiful gardens. Visitors can explore the castle's magnificent rooms, which are filled with antique furniture, paintings and other historical artefacts. The surrounding gardens offer a picturesque stroll through colourful flowerbeds and a variety of plants. Brodie Castle & Estate is a wonderful place to experience the history of Scotland.

You check out of your hotel early in the morning and head towards Sky Island. But before you get there, the first stop is at the famous Loch Ness. Will it be there? Continue through the Scottish valleys and stop at the famous Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland's most photographed castles, situated on an island at the confluence of three lochs. Cross the bridge over the Sleat peninsula to the Isle of Skye. Stroll through Armadale Castle Gardens and the Museum of the Isles to learn about the history of the Isle of Skye. End your day in Portree, explore the colourful harbour town or walk into the hills to enjoy the sunset.

After lunch in Portree, you will travel back to the mainland with your tour guide. We recommend travelling to the mainland by land via the ferry from Armadale to Mallaig to get to Inverlochy quickly.

The surrounding gardens, including the famous Dunvegan Castle Garden, are also worth a visit and provide a picturesque backdrop for a stroll.

After checking out of the hotel, the tour guide will drive you to Fort William, where you will board the most popular train in Scotland in the afternoon: the Jacobite Steam Train. The train leaves Fort William and soon crosses the Glenfinnan Viaduct, which offers spectacular views of the glen. Gaze out of the window at the picturesque mountains, lochs and coastline along the West Highland Line. Make photo stops along the way at picturesque locations such as Loch Eilt and Loch Ailort. Along the way you will pass remote little railway stations such as Glenuig and Lochailort. After around 1.5 hours you will reach Mallaig - a picturesque fishing harbour. There is a 40-minute stop in Mallaig to stretch your legs and take photos of the harbour.
Optional visit to the Mallaig Heritage Centre during the stopover (small entrance fee). Re-board the Jacobite Steam Train and travel back to Fort William on the same route. The tour guide will be waiting for you at Fort William railway station.

After breakfast, take the car ferry from Oban to the Isle of Mull, one of Scotland's most beautiful islands. With the craggy ridges of Ben More, the island's highest peak, the glistening white beaches, the island's signature pink granite and emerald green waters, the Isle of Mull has one of the most diverse landscapes in the Inner Hebrides. Picturesque Tobermory, the island's capital, is a charming little town. Its colourful row of houses stretches invitingly along a bay, making Tobermory one of the most photogenic coastal towns in Scotland. Foodies also appreciate Mull: the island's bays are home to oysters, mussels, scallops, lobsters and langoustines. The shellfish are exported all over the world and are considered to be extremely exquisite. Of course, the fishermen also sell the seafood locally.
You will visit Duart Castle, the seat of the MacLean clan. For over 700 years, this ancient castle with its huge walls and massive keep has dominated the view of the Souf of Mull and Loch Linnhe. Enjoy a tour of the castle, including the magnificent Great Hall, and explore the beautiful grounds. Then take a panoramic tour of the Isle of Mull, including a stop in the village of Tobermory, the island's main town, known for its attractive harbour and colourful houses.
After breakfast, you will travel through the beautiful Highlands to Glasgow. On this route, you will make a stopover at Inveraray Castle. Perched on the banks of Loch Fyne, the castle is characterised by a central tower with a single great hall. Here you will find the highest room in Scotland with a ceiling height of 21 metres, which houses an impressive collection of armour from the 16th to 18th centuries. Outside the castle is a large, symmetrically laid out park that is harmoniously embedded in the surrounding landscape.
After this stopover, continue your journey to Glasgow. Glasgow is a lively city with a diverse selection of shops, restaurants and a vibrant nightlife. Highlights of the city include its imposing Victorian architecture, the chic Merchant City district, the Italian centre and the lively riverside promenade on the River Clyde.

German citizens require a passport to enter Scotland (an identity card is not sufficient!), which must be valid for six months after travelling. Visas are not required for German citizens.
No vaccinations are required. However, it is advisable to check the standard immunisations. The Federal Foreign Office recommends checking the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults (see: www.rki.de) when travelling and completing them if necessary.
Scotland is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, which makes for a mild, pleasant climate, as it is also reached by tropical winds. These make for a changeable but generally balanced climate. There can be pleasantly warm days as early as spring. Summer is predominantly warm and dry. Autumn is often characterised by heavy rain and autumn storms.
