Hokkaido is worth seeing at any time of year. The cherry blossom here occurs relatively late at the end of May. In autumn, the slopes of the volcanoes take on their colourful autumn dress. We are happy to make alpine holiday fun possible for you in winter. At the beginning of February, the snow festival also attracts visitors to Sapporo: around 400 snow and ice sculptures can be admired in Odori Park.
On arrival at Tokyo airport, a chauffeur will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Tokyo. After check-in, the day is free for you to explore the country's vibrant capital.

After breakfast, your tour guide will meet you at the hotel to take you to Meiji Jingu, Tokyo's most famous Shinto shrine. Pass through the impressive torii gates that lead into the inner forest of the shrine with its over 100,000 trees. Meiji Jingu offers an unforgettable nature experience in the middle of Tokyo's urban landscape.
You will then experience modern Tokyo: the lively Harajuku district is known for its colourful street art and fashion scene. In addition to fancy shops with vintage clothing and cosplay shops on Takeshita-dori, there are also more traditional, upscale boutiques on the leafy Omotesandō avenue.
After lunch, take public transport to the beautiful Korakuen Garden, a traditional landscape that is an excellent example of Japanese garden design.
The last destination of the day is Asakusa, in the heart of which stands the famous Senso-ji, Japan's oldest Buddhist temple, which attracts many locals and visitors. The lively Nakamise Street, which leads to the temple, offers a bustling market with countless stalls selling traditional snacks, souvenirs and handicrafts.
A driver will take you to the airport for your flight to Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido and Japan's fifth largest city.
After checking in, the rest of the day is at leisure.

You pick up your guide at the hotel and set off to explore the city of Sapporo. The heart of Sapporo is Odori Park, a 1.5 km long promenade with the Sapporo Television Tower at one end. Stroll along this magnificent avenue and then take a short walk to the famous Sapporo Clock Tower, the city's historical and cultural landmark.
Walk on to Nijo Ichiba, the local fish market, and a popular shopping arcade called Tanuki-Koji. For lunch, there is a large selection of local dishes such as ramen or grilled dishes.
After lunch, you will travel with your tour guide to Otaru, which is just a short train journey from Sapporo. Otaru is a charming harbour town that offers visitors an insight into Japan's rich cultural heritage. One of the main attractions is the Otaru Canal, a picturesque waterway lined with stone warehouses where ships' goods were once stored. Today, the warehouses have been converted into restaurants, cafés and shops selling local handicrafts and souvenirs.
You will return to Sapporo with your tour guide.
Today you will travel by train to Hakodate, one of the most popular destinations in Hokkaido and famous for its beautiful nature. Your tour guide will be waiting for you here to take you to your hotel. After check-in, you will go on an entertaining tour of the city: you will start at the historic red brick warehouses, a symbol of Hakodate's heritage as an early northern trading port.
Then take a stroll through the well-preserved Motomachi neighbourhood, an impressive enclave of opulent 19th century mansions in the Western style. You can enjoy a fantastic view over the city from Mount Hakodate, which you can easily climb by cable car.
In the evening, you can explore Hakodate's nightlife on your own.

Explore the cities of Sendai and Masushima with your local tour guide. Shiogama City is a true paradise for foodies - breakfast has been prepared for you at the wholesale fish market! Meander through the rows of stalls and create your own personalised Kaisendon seafood bowl by selecting freshly caught seafood to be served with a bowl of rice and miso soup.
After visiting the Shiogama Shrine, you will take a sightseeing cruise to nearby Matsushima. The ship sails through the clear, shallow waters of Matsushima Bay: 260 original rock formations and islets are scattered around the bay - one of the most beautiful landscapes in Japan! Once you arrive in Matsushima, you will visit the famous Godaido Temple, a small Buddhist hall that has become a symbol of Matsushima. The expressive animals carved out of wood on the outside of the small building are worth a close look. Later, cross a picturesque long red bridge over the sea to Fukuura Island, one of the few pine islands in the bay that is open to the public. There is also time for Matsushima's main street before taking the train back to Sendai.
Your tour guide will first take you to the Sendai Morning Market; despite its name, this market is open until 6 pm and is always full of local shoppers and restaurant owners. As you stroll through the market, you will make various stops along the way: sample green tea, fish cakes, crispy croquettes and sweets in a retro sweet shop.
From there, continue by private transfer to Yamadera Temple, a popular Buddhist temple in the mountains of Yamagata Prefecture - take your time in the beautiful mountain nature.
The evening is at your free disposal.
In the morning, take the high-speed train to Utsunomiya. Meet your tour guide at the station and travel together by private transfer to Nikko.
Nikko National Park is also a favourite with the Japanese because of its pleasant climate, forested mountains and beauty. The first stop is Lake Chuzenjiko at the foot of Mount Nantai, Nikko's sacred volcano. After a short walk along the lakeshore, we head to Kegon Waterfall, the lake's only outlet. The best view of Lake Chuzenji and the Kegon Falls is from the Akechidaira Observatory, which can be reached by cable car from the Akechidaira Plateau.

The island of Hokkaido is a pleasant holiday destination all year round. The cherry blossom season starts much later in Hokkaido than in other parts of Japan, usually in the second half of May. Summer is lavender season and there are opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, golfing, rafting and other green season sports. Humidity is also lower and it is cooler than in other parts of Japan. In autumn, Hokkaido shines in the usual bright colours. In winter, you can ski in fresh powder snow in Niseko, Rusutsu or Furano. The world-famous Sapporo Snow Festival with its giant snow and ice sculptures attracts thousands of visitors every year.
