Tokyo
Are you a morning person and enjoy the hustle and bustle and authentic local experiences before breakfast? A select group of around 150 guests are allowed to visit the famous "Tsukiji" fish market every day. Watch the freshly caught fish being auctioned off and see the quality for yourself over breakfast afterwards.
Can you catch a glimpse of the Japanese emperor in the afternoon? At least you can imagine you are close to him when you visit the imperial residence. The Imperial Palace itself is not accessible, but its outer façade alone is impressive to behold. You can get a glimpse of old Tokyo in the temple district of Asakusa. It is almost free of tower blocks and has managed to retain its charming village character. Stroll through the narrow shopping street "Nakamise-Dori" and visit Tokyo's most important and oldest temple, Sensō-ji. You can also marvel at the impressive architecture on the subsequent boat trip. The day ends with a unique view: from the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, you can look out over the impressive skyline of the Japanese metropolis.
Tokyo - Hakone
Kamakura is the first destination of the day. After a tasty hotel breakfast, you will travel to the city of Daibutsu. You will see the famous eleven metre high Buddha statue, weighing over ninety tonnes, outside the Kotoku temple. From the impressive Kannon statue made of solid wood, you continue to the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. The spa resort Ryokan Hakone Ginyu is your home tonight.

Hakone - Fuji - Takayama
If you have already admired the impressive landscape of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park from your overnight accommodation, today you will be travelling right into the heart of the beautiful mountain landscape. If you are lucky and the weather permits, you will take the cable car up to Owadukani Station. You will experience a highlight of the day in the volcanic valley: numerous hot springs steam merrily away. A little later, the majestic Mount Fuji rises up before you in a somewhat more impressive manner. You can admire the magnificent size of the 3,800 metre high mountain from a boat on Lake Ashi.
The day ends with a hot spring at the hotel. After a speedy journey on the bullet train, you return to the Honjin Hironoya Kachoan in Takayama.

Takayama - Kyoto
If the visit to the fish market in Tokyo was too early for you or if you already miss the hustle and bustle, you can look forward to the morning of the sixth day: it starts with a visit to the authentic Miyagawa morning market. After the hustle and bustle at the start of the day, relax a little and then visit the historic villages in Shirikawa-go. Do you recognise why the architecture of this World Heritage Site is called "Gasshō-zukuri", meaning "style of hands folded in prayer"?
Take the train to Kyoto at midday, where the next dreamlike luxury domicile awaits you: The Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Here you are guaranteed a room with a view of the river.

Kyoto
Kyoto - city of temples, gardens and imperial palaces. The former capital of Japan is the highlight of a trip to Japan, with many sights to discover, history to feel and culture to experience. We have selected the highlights of the city for you. You start with a visit to Nijō Castle. Wander through the former residence of the leader of the samurai warrior nobility, the Shōgun, and listen to the squeaking of the nightingale floors - this was installed as a warning against unwelcome visitors. Your tour then takes you through the impressive oversized torii, the symbolic entrance gate to Heian-jingu. On the way to the impressive Shintō shrine, you will pass a charming Japanese garden. Linger for a moment among the more than 300 ornamental cherry trees, take a deep breath and marvel: you are in the middle of the land of cherry blossoms. Shortly afterwards, you can see the former capital city in its entirety. From the viewing platform of the Kiyomizu-dera temple, you have a unique view of Kyoto with all its unique architectural jewels. There is also a jewel in the temple complex: the Otowa Waterfall. Its sacred water is said to bring healing, success and good fortune.
Kyoto
Take a deep breath, marvel, calm down. Start this eighth day with a visit to a place of tranquillity: the Zen temple Ginkaku-ji. Walk through the impressive landscape architecture on the grounds to the "Silver Pavilion", also known as the "Hall of Kannon", and into the "Hall of Emptiness" in the Shinden style. The further path through the former resting place of Shogun Yoshimasa leads you through an avenue of red torii, at the end of which is the jewel of the complex: the beautiful Shinto shrine Fushimi Inari.
Kyoto - Nara
Did you already find the giant Daibutsu impressive on the fourth day of your trip? Then this statue is guaranteed to inspire you: On your day trip to Nara today, you can take a look at the largest bronze Buddha statue in Japan. The Buddha image in the Tōdai-ji temple rises 15 metres into the air. While the largest wooden building in the world with its gigantic daibutsu is worth a visit in itself, you shouldn't miss out on a stroll through the pretty temple park. Sika deer roam freely here - and if you're lucky, you might get to pet one of them.
At the end of the day, you will visit another Buddhist gem and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Nara: the Kasuga-Taisha lantern shrine with its thousands of stone lanterns, some of which are covered in moss. The Shinto shrine is particularly worth a visit on rainy days due to its melancholic and romantic atmosphere.
Return flight from Osaka to Europe

German nationals do not require a visa to enter Japan as long as their stay does not exceed 90 days. To enter the country, Germans need a passport that is valid for at least the duration of their trip.
There are no vaccination requirements for direct entry from Germany. The Federal Foreign Office recommends the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults (see: www.rki.de) when travelling and complete them if necessary.
The climate in Japan ranges from moderately cool in the north to humid subtropical heat in the south. This is due to the large expanse from north to south of the Pacific island state. And it's not just Japan's geographical location that affects the weather, the winds also influence the climate. In winter it blows in from North Asia, in summer from the Pacific. Typhoons and monsoon rains are the result. As a rule, the probability of precipitation in Japan is relatively high.
The best time to travel to the south and the central islands is April and May (cherry blossom season) and September to mid-November (autumn leaf colouring). For the north, the months between May and September are recommended.
