New Delhi - Return flight
On this day, you will explore the Indian capital of New Delhi. The Mughal tour starts in the old part of the city, which was once surrounded by walls. In 1648, the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan moved his capital from Agra to Delhi. Among other things, the emperor's special talent for architecture contributed to Delhi's glorious renaissance. One of Shah Jahan's last architectural masterpieces was the Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in Asia.
The cycle rickshaw is the traditional means of transport in India. You will be driven through the narrow streets of Delhi in one of these rickshaws. Marvel and sniff when you stop at the Chandni Chowk. Exotic aromas surround you at the largest spice market, Khari Baoli. Here you have the chance to buy popular Indian spices. Perhaps one or two spice sachets will also make a nice souvenir for your loved ones at home?
The journey continues past the Red Fort, the symbol of power of the Mughal emperor, to the Humayun Mausoleum. Great Mughal Humayun is buried here. The first garden tomb on the Indian subcontinent is an architectural masterpiece and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Optional:
If you wish, you can visit the historic Lodi Gardens next. You can stroll through the 4,000 square metre area and see numerous prominent tombs and mausoleums.
The next safe point on the programme is the 70-metre-high Qutb Minar victory and watchtower. From Delhi's landmark, you continue to India's most extravagant neighbourhood, Lutyens' Delhi. This opulent part of the city is home to Delhi's most famous sights. See the official residence of the President of India, Rashtrapati Bhavan, and the India Gate triumphal arch, among others.
Optional:
Afterwards, you can visit the prominent Sikh temple Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. If you wish, you can even become part of the so-called langar yourself today. Around 10,000 people visit the famous white and gold temple every day. The huge open kitchen distributes free food to the people who dine here together, regardless of religion or caste.
The city tour ends with a shopping trip to the city's Khan Market. Here you will find numerous shops from local designers.
In the late evening, you will be driven to New Delhi airport. You will fly in Economy Class with Emirates and other airlines to Germany.
