After breakfast, you start with a visit to the Temple of Karnak, which was built over more than a thousand years by generations of pharaohs. The great „Hypostyle Hall“ is an incredible forest of huge columns, covering an area larger than the entire Notre Dame Cathedral.
During lunch, the boat continues to Esna, where your Egyptologist awaits you. He will take you to the Greco-Roman temple of Khnum. The beautifully preserved Great Hypostyle Hall was built during the reign of the Roman Emperor Claudius. It has been carefully freed from the mud that has accumulated over the centuries due to the annual
Nile floods and is about nine metres below today's road level. Afternoon tea is served on board during the journey to Edfu. And in the evening we invite you back on board for a gourmet dinner.
After breakfast, you have the morning at leisure. You may wish to spend this time by the pool or in the fitness room. This afternoon you have the opportunity to take part in an Egyptian cookery course while you continue to Kom Ombo. After afternoon tea, visit the temple of Kom Ombo, which is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek. The temple stands at a bend in the Nile, where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the banks of the river. Return to your boat and enjoy the onward journey to Aswan.
This evening there will be a costume party under the motto „Egyptian Night“, where you will have the opportunity to dress up in traditional Egyptian „galabeyyas“. For dinner, you can help yourself to the richly stocked buffet with many Egyptian specialities.
After arriving in Aswan, visit the Philae Temple. It was relocated to the island of Agilkia when the Nile was flooded due to the construction of the Nasser Dam. Admire the „unfinished obelisk“ made of rose granite in an ancient Egyptian quarry. At a height of almost 42 metres, it would have been the largest obelisk of antiquity once completed. In the afternoon, you will experience a typical Egyptian boating experience with a special charm when you sail around the Nile island of Elephantine on a felucca and see the Nilometer, which served as a meeting point for processions in Greco-Roman times.
Spend the evening savouring culinary delicacies on your elegant cruise ship and relax and review the day with all its impressions. Enjoy the day on board as your ship takes you towards Aswan.

Today you will depart early in the morning for your flight excursion to Abu Simbel. You will be picked up by a representative of our agency and taken to the airport. The scheduled flight from Aswan to the small town of Abu Simbel only takes about 30 minutes. Your local guide will be waiting for you at the airport. In Abu Simbel, marvel at the colossal rock temples from the reign of Ramses II. With incredible logistical effort, they were moved to higher ground in the 1960s thanks to a brilliant feat of engineering and thus saved from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. You will then be driven back to the airport. After the short flight, our agency will take you to your hotel Sofitel Old Cataract in Aswan.

There are no vaccination requirements for direct entry from Germany. The best time to visit Egypt as a whole is from mid-March to mid-May and from mid-September to mid-November. This excludes the very hot and dry summer months and the somewhat cooler winter months, when temperatures are lower, especially at night. In spring, from March to June, a hot sand and dust wind, the Chamsin, often blows through the country from the south.
German citizens require a passport to enter the country, which must be valid for at least 6 months after travelling.
German citizens require a visa to enter the country. This can be applied for prior to entry at an Egyptian mission abroad, since December 2017 as an "e-visa" or also on arrival.
