Havana
After breakfast, your guide will be waiting for you. He will take you on a walk through colonial Old Havana and show you the most important sights. Having already seen it from your luxury hotel, today you will finally get a close-up view of the Capitol. The number one shopping street and Havana's first tarmac road, Calle Obispo, is also on today's itinerary. As well as the Palace of the Captains General and Hemingway's alleged favourite bar, "La Bodeguita del Medio". Can you imagine how the literary master sat here and drank mojito after mojito? In addition to this lively sightseeing hotspot, the Cathedral Square, the Castillo de la Fuerza Real fortress, El Templete and the huge Plaza Vieja are also among the highlights of today's sightseeing tour.
There are various options for lunch: If you would like to dine in a private restaurant, the paladar "La Moneda Cubana" on Cathedral Square is a good choice. For a typical Creole meal, try the small paladar "Doña Eutimia". Film fans dine wonderfully at "Ivan Fusto Chef", surrounded by classic cinema motifs.
In the afternoon, there is another highlight on your programme for the day: You drive through the Havana of the 1950s in a classic American vintage car. Immerse yourself in the history of Cuba, let the young Che Guevara and the young Fidel Castro come to life before your inner eye and experience the Square of the Revolution, the Malecón promenade and the Avenida de los Presidentes with you. Discover the magnificent mansions in the opulent Miramar villa district and make a stop at Parque Almendares, a fairytale-like place that is often used as a ritual site by followers of the Santería cult. A little later, delve even deeper into history at the historic Hotel Nacional. Over a cocktail in the garden, you can listen to anecdotes about the mafia and other celebrities of the 1950s. Finally, you return to your hotel in an original coco-taxi.
You will be picked up for dinner at around 19:00. This evening you will dine either in a garden paladar such as "La Cocina de Liliam" or "La Fontana" or alternatively on the terrace of the "Riomar", where you can enjoy the view of the lagoon.
The evening culminates in another highlight: after dinner, you visit the world-famous Tropicana show. Nostalgics and lovers of Cuban rhythms in particular will get their money's worth here as they listen to the large 50s live orchestra and watch over 150 dancers and artists perform against the fascinating backdrop of tropical plants.
