Strolling through the streets of Oslo a few days before Christmas is like a perfect illustration of the word "cosy". Lights twinkling above snow-covered pavements, wooden stalls emitting the good smell of hot drinks, trolls and elves standing proudly on the pavements and in many shops: everything here is made to make you forget the darkness of the days and experience the Christmas season with a genuine and contagious feeling of joy!
During the tour, you will experience the Norwegian Christmas experience to the full. You will learn why Norwegians are historically divided when it comes to answering the question: "What is THE traditional Norwegian Christmas dinner?". You will discover the very local concepts of "lille Julaften" and "romjulen", along with the famous Scandinavian tradition of "Julebord".
Enjoy a cosy stroll through the streets adorned with lights and decorations and try the typical Norwegian winter drink, gløgg (mulled wine). Just a stone's throw from the Royal Palace, visit - of course! - Oslo's most beautiful Christmas market with its famous outdoor ice skating rink and see the city's most important sights.

Sled dog tour Day tour incl. winter clothing (small group, English) 3.5 - 5 hours, depending on how long it is light. The days are short in early winter. Dressing and briefing, getting to know the huskies.
The tour mostly goes far off the beaten track in varied terrain in unspoilt nature, approx. 27 - 45 km. The tour offers interesting dog sledding experiences. Hot drinks are served around a campfire in the wilderness. It is recommended that you bring a sandwich or something else to toast by the fire.
The tour starts from the Engholm Husky Design Lodge. A reasonable level of fitness, concentration and balance are the most important qualities required. You have your "own" sled and are responsible for 4 - 6 dogs. For participants with experience in dog sledding, it is usual to drive a single dog team. For participants without dog sledding experience, it is usual to drive a tandem team with 2 sleds and 8-10 dogs. You share a dog team with a partner or the guide.
The guide and the participants decide together whether it is best to travel in a double or single team. If you have physical limitations that make it difficult to handle the dog sled, it may be possible to sit on the dog sled as a passenger with the guide, wrapped up warm. This should be arranged in advance as it depends on capacity.
These days are at your disposal for optional participation in the tours and excursions offered on site (not included), such as further husky tours, tours with Samis and trappers, excursions to the reindeer farm, cross-country skiing, aurora search, campfire romance, ice fishing, snowshoeing and much more.

Check-in, receipt of the exact programme schedule, dinner, overnight stay.
A romantic package including sparkling wine, homemade cakes and pastries, salted salmon sandwiches with smetana and chocolate awaits you in your hotel room. You will receive warm winter clothing for your stay (thermal overalls, winter boots, gloves, hat). The welcome dinner is served in the cosy restaurant.
In the evening, first chance to see the Northern Lights and experience them up close.
The next few days offer marvellous Arctic outdoor experiences and with a little luck you will see the Northern Lights in the northern sky.
Combined husky and reindeer safari (small group, English). After breakfast, you will experience the Arctic wildlife on an excursion and get to know the lively huskies and fascinating reindeer.
Transfer to the wilderness hotel Nellim, approx. 45 km away, where your adventure begins. First you will either go on a husky safari or by snowmobile to the reindeer farm. At the husky farm, you will be taught how to handle the sledge before setting off on a ride. The huskies pull your sledge through the beautiful winter landscape, past the frozen Lake Inari. All husky safaris are organised so that one guest sits in the front and another in the back. The positions are changed halfway through the journey.
You will also encounter reindeer during the course of the day. A snowmobile safari takes you to the local reindeer farm. The visit to the reindeer farm gives you an insight into the culture and way of life of the Sámi people in the north. The reindeer herder welcomes you and you are invited to the reindeer enclosure. He will tell you more about the Sami culture and the life of a reindeer herder. You are allowed to feed the reindeer. The curious animals may even come up to you and eat out of your hand! On the way by snowmobile, you will also visit the border with Russia and the Orthodox church in Nellim.
Enjoy a tasty lunch during the excursion. Dinner at the hotel. In the evening, another chance to see the Northern Lights and experience them up close.
Enjoy your breakfast. Then it's off on an adventurous snowmobile tour. After a briefing and safety instructions, the snowmobile taster tour begins, taking you over frozen lakes and through the unspoilt wilderness of Lapland. The snowmobile takes you to the most beautiful spots in the area, with a picnic and warm drinks by the campfire rounding off the experience.
If you like, then take part in a snowshoe tour afterwards: short briefing, start directly at the hotel; guided tour through snow-covered winter forests; break by the campfire, information and interesting facts about Lapland from your guide.
During the day you will also enjoy a tasty lunch during the excursion. Dinner at the hotel. In the evening, another chance to see and experience the Northern Lights up close.

The kennel is home to 40-50 lively huskies who are looking forward to a tour with you.
Accommodation in Sven Engholm's husky kennel is provided before and after the tour in one of the Design Cabins. These cabins are furnished with self-built furniture and decorative items designed by Sven Engholm, almost all made of wood, stone and other natural materials. Engholm Design Lodge is located on a husky farm and is an ideal base for a unique wilderness experience. You stay in cosy cabins with their own kitchenettes.

The glass thermal roof ensures that the window remains clear even at the lowest temperatures, when you can enjoy the warmth and facilities of the cabin inside. The cabins are equipped with a double bed. Room facilities: area of 34 m², separate beds, sofa, WC/shower, kettle, free internet access (WiFi).
