5★ Sublime Comporta Country Retreat & SPA

Secretplace: the hideaway by the sea, idyllically situated between 17 hectares of cork oak and pine forests and unspoilt sandy beaches

The "understatement" luxury hotel Sublime Comporta Country Retreat & Restaurant is a true "secret place" and offers the luxury of simplicity and unobtrusive luxury! It is a hideaway and is idyllically situated amongst 17 hectares of cork oak and pine forests about an hour south of Lisbon, near the village of Carvahal. The hotel is a true oasis of calm, away from mass tourism. Not only is the complex with just 14 exceptional rooms highly praised, the restaurant is also excellent. The kitchen mainly uses organic produce from the surrounding area, there is homemade bread and cakes and an excellent selection of wines. Experience a very special highlight: go out to sea with a local fisherman early in the morning and enjoy your freshly caught fish in the evening. The beaches and the Sublime Comporta Beach Club invite you to a beach holiday, for private hours you can enjoy a picnic on one of the many secluded beaches or swim in a private lagoon.

My absolute top tip in Portugal: the hidden Sublime Comporta Country House Retreat & SPA is located in beautiful, slightly hilly terrain. Simplicity at it's best! Sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere, in a modern, luxurious and comfortable version of the cabanas of yesteryear. Built from natural materials, the villas are modelled on the thatched cottages where fishermen and farmers once lived.
