5★ Parīlio, a Member of Design Hotels, Paros, Greece

Dreamlike luxury hotel with only 33 design suites on Paros, very close to the enchanting coastal town of Naoussa

Timeless Greek architecture, an invitingly muted colour palette, European design elements and the splendour of Paros - all enjoyed from a sublime, private suite. "Parelion" is a bright, sun-like optical illusion, often with a glowing ring or halo caused by sunlight filtering through ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. "Two Parelia rise with the sun and follow it all day until it sets." Aristotle (Meteorology III.2, 372a14). As a tribute to the Cycladic roots, the hotel and logo are inspired by the "Fat Lady of Saliagos", the oldest marble figure found in the Cyclades to date, a symbol of feminine beauty and strength, an ode to the soul of the Aegean sea and light. The Parilio Hotel on the Cyclades island of Paros is so beautiful and dreamlike and all in white. Tucked away in the quiet north of the island, you can spend an exclusive holiday here in a relaxed atmosphere. The buildings are characterised by the traditional architectural style with arches, columns and thick brickwork that is so typical of this region, and there is a large pool in the centre. The beach is 5 minutes away.

"Lighting from the Italian company Toscot, bedside tables from 101 Copenhagen and an earthy colour palette with neutral tones. Designer Stamos Hondrodimos utilised the work of local craftsmen and leading European designers as well as motifs from North African tribes. He perfectly combines the architecture of the Cyclades with holistic design. The minimal use of colours and marble figures convey a sense of timeless purity."
