ol Donyo Lodge, located in the heart of the Chyulu Hills between Tsavo and Amboseli National Parks in Kenya, offers a timeless wilderness where elephant calls resemble meditations and history touches every visitor.
The ol Donyo Lodge has a total of nine suites. Eight of these are deluxe suites, which are all similar in terms of interior layout now that the split levels have been removed. The ninth suite is the Sambu Suite, a two-bedroom family suite. Each suite is designed to reflect the heart of the East African safari. With a private plunge pool and views across the rolling plains to Mount Kilimanjaro, these suites are the ultimate in wilderness luxury. A special feature is the star beds, where guests can sleep under the sky while listening to the sounds of the African wilderness.
The design and architecture of each suite at ol Donyo Lodge is conceived to blend seamlessly into the surrounding wilderness, offering guests an authentic experience in the midst of nature. While the suites offer a contemporary design, they are also strongly influenced by the rich Maasai culture, which is reflected in the materials used and the interior design.
ol Donyo Lodge offers a variety of safari experiences including horse safaris, mountain bike safaris, guided walking safaris and open vehicle safaris. A particular highlight is the newly designed sunken observation post, which offers guests the opportunity to spend the whole day or even the night next to the waterhole. For the more adventurous, there is the opportunity to take part in one of the many Great Plains Safari experiences, from luxury safaris to photography safaris and more.

Following recent renovations and improvements, all Deluxe Suites are now similar in terms of interior layout, with the split floor areas removed. Each suite offers luxurious furnishings created from the ancient lava of Kilimanjaro.
From each suite, guests can look out over the suite's private plunge pool and across the rolling plains to Mount Kilimanjaro. For a special night under the African night sky, each deluxe suite has a stunning star bed. Here guests can fall asleep while listening to the sounds of hyenas and lions roaming nearby.
Families or groups of friends travelling together who prefer larger, connected accommodation. This suite offers two spacious bedrooms that are perfect for families or friends who prefer shared accommodation without sacrificing privacy. Guests can pamper themselves with in-room spa treatments in the Sambu Suite.
German nationals require a passport to enter the country. This must be valid for six months beyond the date of return.
Since January 2024, all travellers require an "Electronic Travel Authorisation" (so-called "eTA"; since the introduction of the eTA, a visa is no longer required) to enter Kenya. The application is made online and can be submitted at the earliest three months before departure, but no later than 72 hours before departure. The "eTA" does not automatically authorise entry - this is at the discretion of the border officials upon entry. Further information in German can be found at Kenyan Embassy. (e)Visas already issued remain valid until the end of the journey.
Kenya's climate is relatively stable throughout the year, meaning that the country can be travelled to all year round. The so-called dry seasons range from around December to March and mid-June to October. There are regional differences. There are a total of two rainy seasons per year, the major rainy season lasts from around April to mid-June, the minor rainy season from around October to November with heavy short downpours. The coastal region in the east borders on the Indian Ocean, bathing is possible here all year round, only in the months of April and May the weather conditions on the coast are not ideal. The Masai Mara region is known for its migration. During the months of July to September, there is a particularly good chance of experiencing the great animal migration here. The timing of the migration depends on the annual rainfall and is therefore subject to major fluctuations.
