CHINA & TAIWAN
German citizens can enter China without a visa if certain conditions are met. The stay may not exceed 30 days and must be for tourism, business or visiting purposes. A visa is required for longer stays. A valid passport or child's passport is required, which is valid for at least six months at the time of entry and has two free, visible pages. It is recommended that you also carry flight tickets and hotel bookings to prove the purpose of your stay.
JAPAN
German citizens require a passport to enter the country, which must be valid for 6 months after departure. German citizens do not require a visa for tourist stays of up to 180 days in total. When entering the country, a residence permit ("Landing Permission") is issued at the airport as a "Temporary Visitor" for an initial period of 90 days. Entry forms in English and Japanese are handed out on the aircraft and must be completed. Important: You must also enter the address of your hotel as well as your flight and passport number. So please have your pen, passport and ticket ready, as well as the name of your hotel.
Entry requirements may change at short notice. It is therefore advisable to always check the latest regulations before travelling. The Federal Foreign Office provides up-to-date travel and security advice on its website: https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/de/ReiseUndSicherheit
