The journey to Song Saa Private Island usually begins at Sihanoukville International Airport in the south of Cambodia. From there, a 30-minute transfer by car takes you to the private jetty. The onward journey by speedboat takes around 45 minutes and takes you directly to the island in the Koh Rong archipelago. Alternatively, domestic flights from Phnom Penh or Siem Reap are also possible - as is an exclusive helicopter transfer.
Song Saa extends over two neighbouring islands - Koh Ouen and Koh Bong - which are connected by a jetty. The surrounding area is characterised by dense tropical forests, white sandy beaches and a protected marine area. Here guests can experience unspoilt nature with mangroves, coral reefs and a species-rich underwater world that is ideal for snorkelling and kayaking.
The resort offers various excursions, such as boat trips to neighbouring islands, guided hikes and visits to local fishing villages. The Ocean View Pool Villas are ideal for beach lovers - they are located directly on the coast, with a view of the vast ocean and often with private beach access. German nationals require a visa to enter Cambodia. This can be applied for in various ways:
Before travelling: At a Cambodian mission abroad (e.g. the embassy in Berlin).
Online (e-visa): For tourist (category T) and business visas (category E) via the official website, usable at certain border crossings. It is recommended to apply at least two weeks before travelling.
Visa on arrival: For tourist (category T) and business visas (category E) for a fee at all international border crossings (airports, major land crossings).
An electronic entry procedure via the website/app "Cambodia e-arrival" has also been in force since 1 July 2024. Travellers must register there seven days before their planned entry. Their passport must be valid for at least six months upon entry and have at least two blank pages. The permitted length of stay is usually 30 days from the day of entry.
If you are travelling directly from Germany, there are no compulsory vaccinations for Cambodia. Proof of a yellow fever vaccination is only required if you are travelling from a yellow fever area or have been in transit there for more than 12 hours. The Federal Foreign Office strongly recommends checking the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute (www.rki.de) and completing them if necessary. In addition, vaccinations against hepatitis A are recommended as travel vaccinations, as well as against dengue fever, hepatitis B, typhoid, rabies and Japanese encephalitis for long-term stays or special exposure. Individual travel medical advice is advisable.
The climate in Cambodia is tropical and warm and humid and is divided into two main seasons: the dry season from November to March and the rainy season from April to October. Temperatures remain high all year round, so it is always warm. Within the dry season, however, the months of March to May can get very hot (often over 35°C, in April even up to 40°C), while December and January are among the "cooler" months with more pleasant 22-28°C. The rainy season is characterised by sometimes heavy, but often short showers, which usually occur in the afternoon or evening. The highest rainfall usually occurs in July, September and October.
