Arrival in the morning with Lufthansa. A warm welcome! VIP entry and completion of immigration formalities. Afterwards, a short transfer to Federal Air with airport assistance. Check-in and flight to Madikwe. Immediate room occupancy thanks to early check-in. The Madikwe Game Reserve is an exclusive, 75,000-hectare, malaria-free wildlife reserve in northwestern South Africa on the border with Botswana. It is known for its high density of wildlife, including the „Big Five“ (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, buffalo) and endangered wild dogs. The reserve is only accessible to lodge guests, guaranteeing a private safari experience.

German nationals do not need to apply for a visa in advance for purely tourist stays of up to 90 days; instead, a corresponding visitor's permit will be issued upon arrival. The passport must be valid for at least 30 days beyond the date of departure and have two blank pages for stamps. The regulation for minors is particularly family-friendly: since November 2019, children accompanied by at least one parent no longer need an additional birth certificate or letter of consent, provided they have their own valid passport.
In Mosambik sind deutsche Touristen für Aufenthalte von bis zu 30 Tagen mittlerweile von der Visumpflicht befreit, müssen sich jedoch mindestens 48 Stunden vor der Einreise über das E-Visa-Portal registrieren und eine geringe Gebühr entrichten. Für längere Aufenthalte oder geplante Ausflüge in Nachbarländer mit anschließender Rückkehr nach Mosambik sollte jedoch weiterhin vorab ein Visum für Mehrfacheinreisen (visto múltiplo) bei einer Auslandsvertretung eingeholt werden. In jedem Fall muss der Reisepass noch mindestens sechs Monate gültig sein. Da bei der Einreisekontrolle gelegentlich Nachweise über das Rückflugticket, die Hotelbuchung oder ausreichende finanzielle Mittel gefordert werden, empfiehlt es sich, diese Dokumente bereitzuhalten und die gestattete Aufenthaltsdauer strikt einzuhalten, um hohe Geldstrafen zu vermeiden.

Während des südafrikanischen Sommers von November bis März locken warme Temperaturen vor allem in die Kapregion und an die Küsten. Der milde Winter von Juni bis September bietet hingegen ideale Bedingungen für Safaris in den Nationalparks, während die Monate Juli bis November die beste Zeit für Walbeobachtungen in der Plettenberg Bay darstellen.
Mosambik ist geprägt von einem tropischen Wechselklima mit einer Regenzeit von Oktober bis März, in der der Großteil der jährlichen Niederschläge fällt. Während die Temperaturen im Norden des Landes ganzjährig konstant heiß bei etwa 30°C liegen, sorgt die Trockenzeit von April bis September für ein besonders angenehmes Reiseklima mit viel Sonnenschein und geringerer Luftfeuchtigkeit.
