The last stage on your e-bike is short, as you reach the square in front of Santiago's famous cathedral after just 27 kilometres. Nevertheless, today's route is also scenically beautiful, but also challenging, with many small hamlets and villages along the way, before a final coffee break a few kilometres before Santiago heralds the end of your cycle pilgrimage.
More and more pilgrims share the path, an encouraging "Buen Camino" (good journey) is exchanged everywhere, many sing and dance and are simply happy to be completing their pilgrimage today - each for their own personal reason. A final ascent leads up to the cathedral, already in the city centre - and then a sublime moment occurs: at first there is a little silence in the group, a pause - but then it breaks through, hugs and congratulations, high-fives and moist eyes here and there... and then of course photos, photos, photos.
The bikes are pushed a few more metres to the pilgrims' office, where everyone is given the so-called "Compostelana", a testimony to the pilgrimage and a lasting memory of a truly extraordinary journey in every respect! You now hand in your e-bike and your hotel room is available from 3.00 pm.
In the early evening, a pilgrim's mass takes place every day and, once again regardless of questions of faith, is clearly another highlight of the experience, bringing a peaceful, harmonious end to an irretrievable few days on the Camino. After the pilgrims' mass, a final dinner awaits you in a small tavern, where wonderful tapas with a wide variety of compositions and flavours form the culinary conclusion to your journey. You will be staying in the oldest hotel in Spain, the atmospheric Parador de Santiago de Compostela, in a prime location on the square in front of the cathedral.
