Eat walk Tours Limited offers culinary walking tours in Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews. The culinary walks take you to five locations where locally sourced food is sampled, with drinks also being sampled at three of the stops. On the way from one place to another, the guide will tell you about the history of the region. During the Glasgow Food Walking Tour you will visit some top class restaurants and bars where the locals eat and drink. You'll meet locals who are passionate about what they, Glasgow and Scotland have to offer in terms of food and drink. The hotel occupies one side of Blythswood Square, a pretty green space in the heart of Glasgow. From here you can easily reach the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and Glasgow's Katherdale on foot or by public transport. Glasgow Central train station is 700 metres from the hotel.
Gleneagles' Townhouse: first city hotel located in the beautifully restored townhouse on St Andrew Square. Gleneagles is the legendary sporting and country estate and with Gleneagles Townhouse in the heart of Edinburgh's historic New Town neighbourhood, it has now also arrived in the city. The legendary building that houses the hotel was originally the home of the British Linen Company, which later became the Bank of Scotland. Superb architectural features are found throughout this enchanting urban retreat, with each room uniquely conveying a sense of understated luxury with an appreciative tribute to the building's legacy. The lively all-day restaurant is perfect for breakfast, long lunches and atmospheric evenings. A members' club, a wellness centre, two impressive bars and a roof terrace with exceptional views of the city - previously only possible from the rooftop statues - complete this Edinburgh gem.
German citizens require a passport to enter Scotland (an identity card is not sufficient!), which must be valid for six months after travelling. Visas are not required for German citizens.
No vaccinations are required. However, it is advisable to check the standard immunisations. The Federal Foreign Office recommends checking the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults (see: www.rki.de) when travelling and completing them if necessary.
Scotland is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, which makes for a mild, pleasant climate, as it is also reached by tropical winds. These make for a changeable but generally balanced climate. There can be pleasantly warm days as early as spring. Summer is predominantly warm and dry. Autumn is often characterised by heavy rain and autumn storms.
