As well as the famous inland saltwater lake Khor Al Udaid in the middle of endless sand dunes up to 40 metres high. The variety of culinary offerings is also astonishing: the scene is characterised by Michelin-starred restaurants, experimental cuisine and delicious street food. Qatar is home to some of the region's most extraordinary museums and art galleries, with exhibitions inspired by both modernity and tradition. After breakfast, your private guide will accompany you to the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), which opened in 2008 and is one of the world's leading institutions for Islamic art. The building alone is worth seeing: it was designed by the renowned Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei. With more than 11,000 objects from three continents and 13 centuries, it displays one of the largest and best collections of Arabic art: manuscripts, ceramics, metal, glass, ivory, textiles, wood and precious stones.
Then it's off to the sheikh's stables. Al Shaqab is a state-of-the-art equestrian centre in Qatar. His Highness Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani established Al Shaqab in 1992 to maintain the tradition of Arabian horses in Qatar. The rest of the day is at leisure.
After breakfast, your private tour guide will take you on an excursion to the Khor Al Adaid inland lake in the south of Qatar. After a 10-kilometre-long estuary, two fantastically beautiful basins open up, with crescent-shaped white sand dunes rising into the sky - a wonderful sight, and not just for dune buggy fans. The calm waters in the middle of the desert are also a paradise for birds: Flamingos, cormorants, wading birds, terns, gulls and storks nest on the islands in the lake. Since 2008, Khor Al Adid has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List as the only lagoon landscape of its kind in the world.
Change of scene: hustle and bustle, aromas, colours - Souq Waqif is a completely different place. Although the souq looks modern, it is still labyrinthine, friendly and oriental. You can buy just about anything here: souvenirs, spices, clothes, carpets, falcons. There are also many restaurants serving authentic Arabic cuisine.

Entry is possible via the international airport in the capital Doha. Visitors from Germany need a passport that is valid for at least six months. A free visa is available on arrival at the airport in Qatar. This allows you to stay in the country for up to 90 days. When entering Qatar, foreign visitors must take out health insurance to cover the costs of any medical treatment in state facilities. The cost of this is 50 QAR (approx. 14 euros).
There are no vaccination requirements for direct entry from Germany. The Federal Foreign Office recommends checking the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults (see: www.rki.de) when travelling and completing them if necessary.

Qatar has a subtropical climate with high humidity and hot temperatures. Summers are very hot with highs of up to 50 degrees in the shade. The average temperatures from July to August are around 40 degrees. It hardly cools down at night either.
