After EXPO 2020 in Dubai, the world has now waited five years to come together again to showcase technical and artistic achievements. Magnificent pavilions can also be expected at this EXPO. In addition to two days at the EXPO, numerous experiences in nearby Kyoto are also part of this trip: Discover temples, the geisha quarter and a gently swaying bamboo forest in lovely Kyoto.

The EXPO is always worth a visit: the showcase of the countries focuses on many wow moments. Germany is presenting a pavilion under "Wa! Germany", a pavilion that focuses on the topic of the "circle". The focus is on the circular economy, architecture and sustainability. Under the motto "Designing Future Society for Our Lives", Osaka will reflect on the societies of the future, present new technologies and enable visionary experiences.
You will fly economy class from Munich to Osaka.
At the airport, you will be greeted by an airport assistant at the arrivals gate who will assist you. A private transfer will take you to your hotel in Kyoto. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours.

Your tour guide will be waiting for you in the lobby of your hotel at around 9.00 am to take you to the highlights of Kyoto by public transport. Hardly anywhere else in the world has such a density of temples and shrines as in the former Japanese capital.
Firstly, you will travel to Ryoan-ji. The temple is known for its famous Zen rock garden.
You will then visit Kinkaku-ji, also known as the Golden Pavilion. The temple once served as the shogun's resting villa and had to be rebuilt twice after fires over the course of time. The upper floor is completely covered in gold leaf. With its location by a pond, it is also a popular photo motif.
Arashiyama is also worth a visit: a walk through the dense bamboo forest is truly an experience - especially when the sun shines through the towering trunks. The rustling of the bamboo leaves in the wind creates a mystical, calming atmosphere.
You will also visit the Tenryu-ji temple here. This famous Zen Buddhist temple has a beautiful garden with a pond, which was designed by an ingenious garden architect.
After breakfast, you will be met by your driver and driven to the EXPO in Osaka in a private car (approx. 45 min. journey by car).
EXPO 2025 in Osaka promises to be a major event that will continue the tradition of world expos in Japan while looking to the future of the global community. It is an opportunity for countries to showcase their latest technologies and ideas to help shape a better future for all.

With a focus on sustainability and the promotion of a future-oriented society, exhibiting countries are encouraged to showcase the latest technologies and innovations to achieve global sustainability goals and raise the growing global awareness of the need for sustainable development.
The main theme is complemented by the three sub-themes "Saving Lives", "Empowering Lives" and "Connecting Lives". Each pavilion is also linked to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, which the country pavilions will present ideas and solutions for achieving.
After visiting the EXPO, return to the hotel on your own, take a taxi or the train.

Due to the great popularity of the EXPO, tickets may not be available at short notice. To be on the safe side, tickets must be purchased at the time of booking. Once purchased, tickets are non-refundable. The visit only includes the admission ticket
Your driver will be waiting for you again in the lobby of your hotel at around 09:00 and will take you to the EXPO in a private car. Spend another day at the EXPO site near Osaka. After visiting the EXPO, return to the hotel on your own, take a taxi or the train.
You use another day in Kyoto to enjoy the beauty of the city. After breakfast, you will go on a public transport tour with your tour guide - so you can experience everyday life in Japan up close.
In the eastern foothills of the city is the Nanzenji Zen Temple, a tranquil retreat where monks have lived in peaceful tranquillity since 1291. Visit the famous Zen rock garden, the meaning of which is left to the observer. Are they islands in a calm ocean or a depiction of wild animals crossing a raging river?
Afterwards, visit another place of tranquillity: the Zen temple Ginkaku-ji. Stroll through the impressive landscape architecture on the grounds to the "Silver Pavilion", also known as the "Hall of Kannon", and on to the "Hall of Emptiness" in the Shinden style.
In the afternoon, visit the Kiyomizu-dera, a beautiful water temple. The 13 metre high veranda offers a particularly beautiful view of the city of Kyoto.
At the end of the day, you can experience the hustle and bustle of the Gion district. The district was once known for its geishas and even today, young women in geisha looks can still be seen wandering the narrow streets with numerous shops and restaurants.

German citizens require a passport to enter the country, which must be valid for 6 months after departure. German citizens do not require a visa for tourist stays of up to 180 days in total. When entering the country, a residence permit ("Landing Permission") is issued at the airport as a "Temporary Visitor" for an initial period of 90 days. Entry forms in English and Japanese are handed out on the aircraft and must be completed. Important: You must also enter the address of your hotel as well as your flight and passport number. So please have your pen, passport and ticket ready, as well as the name of your hotel.
There are no vaccination requirements for direct entry from Germany. The Federal Foreign Office recommends checking the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults (see: www.rki.de) when travelling and completing them if necessary.
