Cappadocia: a fairytale land of stone

Where history meets breathtaking natural beauty: ancient cave churches, dancing dervishes and a sky full of hot air balloons

A mystical and magical scenery is revealed in Cappadocia like no other place on earth. The region is famous for its extraordinary natural formations, such as the bizarre fairy chimneys and historic underground sites. Cappadocia, home to grapes and wine and the cradle of Christianity, is nestled in the oasis of the Anatolian steppe and offers unique landscapes of tufa, formed over thousands of years by volcanic activity and erosion.

Experience the fascination of a dervish ceremony and marvel at the mystical dances and ritual chants of the Sufis. Climb into a hot-air balloon that takes you up into the air and marvel at the surreal landscape in the light of dawn that stretches out below you like a painting. The underground cities are fascinating testimonies to early Christian and Byzantine engineering. Cave churches, built around 6000 years ago, offer artistic frescoes and carvings as archaeological treasures that make an immeasurable contribution to the exploration of our past.

Cappadocia presents itself as an open book of history that welcomes travellers with open arms and offers space to explore the inseparable connection between nature and culture.

The dance of the dervishes is a very special experience. Dressed in white with their arms folded across their chest, the dervishes first receive a blessing and then begin to spin in a circle. During the ceremony, they enter an ecstatic state caused by the music and movement. They experience one of the most mysterious customs in Turkey.
