German nationals do not require a visa to enter Chile, Peru and Bolivia and stay there for up to 90 days.
Chile's climate is characterised by different climate zones. The north tends to have less rainfall, while the south is more humid. The best time to visit Chile is between October and April, but the north can be easily travelled all year round.
The climate in Bolivia is mainly dependent on the altitude, with a large part of the country lying at over 1,500 metres. The rainy season is between November and March throughout the country, while it is drier between April and October - these months are also considered the best time to visit.
The best time to travel to Peru is the Peruvian winter between April and October. This is when it is dry and warm, although it can be cooler at higher altitudes. Summer in Peru is from December to March, which is the rainy season. In the highlands of the Andes, known as the "Sierra", the average temperature at 3,300 metres is only around 11 °C all year round.
No compulsory vaccinations are required for direct entry from Germany for Chile, Bolivia and Peru. However, when travelling to Bolivia from a yellow fever area, proof of a yellow fever vaccination must be provided. All areas of Bolivia below 2,300 metres are yellow fever transmission areas. Peru also has designated yellow fever endemic areas, in particular the entire Peruvian Amazon region and the areas east of the Andes below 2,300 metres. It is therefore strongly recommended that all travellers are vaccinated against yellow fever before travelling to these areas. The vaccination is valid from the tenth day of international travel. Also make sure that your standard vaccinations are up to date according to the Robert Koch Institute's vaccination calendar. Vaccinations against hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid and rabies are also recommended as travel vaccinations for long-term stays or special exposure.
