This trip combines a passion for flying with a paradisiacal island feeling in the Bahamas, boundless freedom and days full of sun, turquoise-coloured sea and the typical flair of flying.
Note: This trip is aimed at flight enthusiasts with a valid private pilot's licence and experience in a small aircraft who are up for an extraordinary adventure. An American FAA licence or a European PPL-A licence (EASA) is required, which can then be revalidated in the USA, as well as a valid medical (airworthiness certificate / class 2 is sufficient). You will also need a valid radiotelephony licence that enables you to operate in English. (BFZ 1 or AZF). You should also have approx. 150 hours of flying experience. If you would like to go on the trip without your own pilot's licence, we will organise a pilot to fly the private aircraft for you.

You will stay at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street: luxurious comfort, spectacular views of the bay and the perfect location to experience Tampa's vibrant city centre and waterfront promenade.

Today is all about flying. In the morning, a renowned American flight school in Tampa will provide instruction and a check flight to revalidate the European (EASA) licence for an American FAA flight licence. Together with experienced flight instructors, the differences in procedures and regulations are discussed before a familiarisation and test flight takes place - including the Biennial Flight Review (BFR), as required in the USA.
In the afternoon there is time to enjoy the atmosphere of the Tampa Bay Aviation Community, exchange impressions or take a stroll along Water Street.
To round off the day, we recommend a dinner in the historic Ybor City district. The Columbia restaurant is a true Tampa classic with Spanish-Cuban flair and over 100 years of history.
This day serves as a buffer day for any outstanding formalities or final flights as part of the licence revalidation, but also offers the opportunity to enjoy Tampa in peace.
If you like, you can explore the fascinating old town of Ybor City - the historic heart of Tampa, characterised by Cuban flair, cigar factories and charming brick facades. Alternatively, the day can be spent relaxing at the hotel or on a spontaneous excursion by plane, for example to Key West or along the picturesque Florida Gulf Coast.
In the evening, we recommend a culinary highlight: an exclusive dinner at the legendary Bern's Steak House, one of the most famous steakhouses in the USA - renowned for its excellent cuisine, first-class wines and elegant ambience.
Today marks the start of your great travel adventure in your own aircraft - a day that will make aviators' hearts beat faster. After take-off in Tampa, the first leg of the flight takes you to Boca Raton (flight time approx. 1 hour). Customs and immigration clearance for the onward flight to the Bahamas takes place there, accompanied by a short lunch break in the elegant ambience of the small coastal airport.
In the afternoon, the journey continues towards paradise: The flight to Governor's Harbour (approx. 1.5 hours) offers breathtaking views of the turquoise sea, snow-white sandy beaches and countless small islands passing beneath the wings. Today, a relaxed island experience by private plane is on the programme. Only a 15-minute flight separates you from Northern Eleuthera - a fast and spectacular transfer over the glittering, turquoise-coloured sea.
From there, take a boat to the world-famous little Harbour Island, where Pink Sands Beach with its soft, pink sand and crystal-clear water invites you to relax and enjoy. Whether it's a walk along the coast, a refreshing swim or simply soaking up the island feeling - this place is a true postcard motif from the Caribbean.
In the evening, we recommend dinner at The Fig Tree Restaurant near Governor's Harbour (optional), known for its fresh local ingredients, Caribbean flavours and relaxed atmosphere - the perfect end to an unforgettable day on the island.
Back to the airport: your own aircraft is already waiting for you. After the usual pre-flight procedures - weather check, flight planning and aircraft check - you take off for another highlight of your pilot's holiday. The flight takes you over the Exumas: past Norman's Cay, whose emerald green lagoons, coral reefs and small sandbanks sparkle from the air like a colourful mosaic. After about an hour's flight, you will reach Staniel Cay, one of the most picturesque islands in the Bahamas, famous for its crystal-clear water, hidden bays and the swimming pigs of the Exumas.
An overnight stay at the Staniel Cay Yacht Club promises Caribbean comfort and an idyllic location right on the water. From the hotel, you can enjoy marvellous views of the lagoon, launch boats or kayaks directly from the jetty and soak up the relaxed, exclusive atmosphere of the island. A perfect place to relax after an eventful day of flying, watch the sunset and end the day in style. Enjoy your dinner in the Sea Level restaurant with a sea view and delicious lobster.
There are numerous activities to choose from today. James Bond fans can visit the Thunderball Grotto, which became world-famous thanks to the 1965 film of the same name starring Sean Connery. Immerse yourself in the spectacular underwater world, admire colourful coral reefs and exotic fish and experience a little piece of film history. If you want to discover the animal side of the Bahamas, you can then visit the swimming pigs of Big Major Cay, who paddle happily through the crystal-clear water and make for unforgettable souvenir photos.
Alternatively, spend a relaxing day at the Staniel Cay Yacht Club, soaking up the sun by the pool or right by the water and simply soaking up the Caribbean tranquillity. For the more adventurous, there is also a day trip to one of the neighbouring islands to explore more hidden bays, beautiful beaches and the turquoise waters of the Exumas.
In the morning, you take off on a short flight to Little Farmers Cay, where the small airport is located directly on the beach - only a few steps separate you from the water, so you can enjoy the Caribbean sun and a refreshing dip in the sea during your stopover.
The journey then continues south to Stella Maris on Long Island, where you will spend the next two nights at the luxurious Cape Santa Maria Resort. The hotel boasts beautiful beaches, elegant villas right on the water and a relaxed, exclusive atmosphere, ideal for relaxing after an eventful day of flying. Enjoy the tranquil surroundings, watch the sun set over the Atlantic or plan short exploratory tours of the island for the coming days.

Today you can enjoy the paradisiacal surroundings of Cape Santa Maria at your leisure. In the morning, you take off on a relaxing flight towards Boca Raton (flight time approx. 2 hours), along the east coast of Florida. In Boca Raton, you can plan a leisurely lunch break to sample local specialities or simply soak up the flair of the coastal town.
Then it's back to Tampa (flight time approx. 1 hour), where you check in again at the comfortable JW Marriott Tampa Water Street.

Those who wish can take a boat tour through Tampa Bay and admire the city's skyline and bridges as well as the dolphins that playfully accompany the boat. Art lovers can visit the Tampa Museum of Art or the Henry B. Plant Museum - both offer insights into contemporary art and the history of Florida. You can round off the day with dinner at Rocca Restaurant (optional, Michelin star) or savour the local cuisine at one of the trendy eateries on the Riverwalk.
Today is the return flight from Tampa. Arrival in Europe the following day

Citizens of Germany, Austria and Switzerland can enter the USA without a visa under the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP), provided the following requirements are met:
- Travel document: A valid electronic passport (ePassport) with integrated chip
- Travel authorisation: An ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) must be applied for and approved before entering the country
- Duration of the trip: The stay must not exceed 90 days
- Purpose of journey: Tourist, business or transit stays are permitted
- Booking: The onward journey must be to a country other than Mexico, Canada or neighbouring islands
- Application: The ESTA application should be submitted online at least 72 hours before departure
The ESTA authorisation is usually valid for two years as long as the passport does not expire. The fee is 40 US dollars.
For tourist stays in the Bahamas of up to 90 days, nationals of these countries do not require a visa. The following documents are required:
- Travel document: A valid passport or children's passport
- Period of validity: The passport must be valid for at least six months upon entry
- Financial means: Proof of sufficient financial means for the stay
- Travel documents: Proof of return or onward journey, e.g. return flight ticket

There are no vaccination requirements for direct entry from Germany. The Federal Foreign Office recommends checking the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults (see: www.rki.de) when travelling and completing them if necessary.
Florida and the Bahamas are characterised by a tropical-subtropical climate that offers warm temperatures, plenty of sunshine and a pleasant sea breeze. In Florida, the average temperatures are between 20 and 30 °C, while the Bahamas have similar climatic conditions at 24-29 °C.
The best time to travel by private plane is from November to May, when the weather is usually dry, stable and less humid. During these months, the conditions for small aircraft are ideal: clear visibility, calm winds and a low probability of rain. The hurricane season from June to October, on the other hand, can bring heavy rain and thunderstorms, which poses a risk for private flights in particular.
