On board the Heritage Line ships, you will not experience an ordinary cruise, but a home away from home that blends harmoniously into the breathtaking landscapes of Southeast Asia. The itineraries take you to some of the region's most fascinating and unspoilt places: from the hustle and bustle of Saigon to the quiet villages of northern Laos and the magical tranquillity of Halong Bay. The landscapes change from dense jungle to wide rivers, from colourful markets to secluded temples - and you are always accompanied by the flow of water.
Between these impressive backdrops, the Heritage Line ships are your cosy retreats. The cabins are lovingly furnished with natural materials and regional details that reflect the local culture. Large windows open up the view of the passing shores and let you get very close to nature. Whether on board the colonial-inspired Jahan on the Lower Mekong, the elegant Violet in Halong Bay or the modern Anouvong in the Upper Mekong, each ship offers an intimate atmosphere that invites you to linger.
Heritage Line Jahan - A touch of India on the Mekong
The Jahan is an elegant boutique ship that combines the charm of colonial India with Vietnamese hospitality. With only 52 passengers on board, it offers an exclusive and personalised experience on the Lower Mekong. The cabins are decorated in 19th century style, with fine wood panelling, handcrafted furniture and ornate carpets. Large windows offer breathtaking views of the river and the passing landscapes.
On board, guests will find a spa, a pool, a fitness centre and a restaurant serving regional specialities. The Jahan sails on a 7-night itinerary between Vietnam and Cambodia, with stops in historic cities such as Phnom Penh and Kampong Cham. Excursions to temples, markets and traditional villages provide a deep insight into the culture and history of the region.
Heritage Line Violet - Intimacy in Halong Bay
The Violet is the smallest ship in the Heritage Line fleet and offers a particularly intimate experience with just six luxurious suites. Each suite is designed in French Indochinese style, with handcrafted furniture, fine fabrics and panoramic windows that offer spectacular views of the limestone cliffs of Halong Bay. The ship was refurbished in 2024 and now features an extended sun deck, spa, gym and a restaurant serving exquisite Vietnamese cuisine.
The Violet offers 1- to 2-night cruises from Hanoi, with excursions to floating villages, hidden bays and historical sites. Activities such as Tai Chi, cookery classes and kayaking enhance the experience. The Violet is ideal for couples looking for a romantic and exclusive getaway.
Heritage Line Anouvong - Luxury on the Upper Mekong
The Anouvong is a modern boutique ship that sails the Upper Mekong in Laos. With only 10 cabins, it offers a personalised and luxurious experience in the midst of unspoilt nature. The cabins are decorated in a French-colonial style, with French balconies and panoramic windows offering magnificent views of the river and surrounding mountains.
On board, guests will find a spa, a gym, a restaurant, a bar and a sun deck with a jacuzzi. The Anouvong offers 3- to 9-night cruises, with stops in cities such as Luang Prabang, Vientiane and Pak Ou. Excursions to temples, caves, traditional villages and ethnic minorities provide a deep insight into the culture and history of Laos. The Anouvong was extensively renovated in 2024 to improve comfort and facilities. The route leads through the Golden Triangle and offers a unique experience in one of the most unspoilt regions of Southeast Asia.
The entry requirements for German nationals in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos all require a valid passport, which must be valid for at least six months upon entry and have at least two free pages.
Vietnam: German nationals can enter Vietnam without a visa for stays of up to 45 days (valid until 14 March 2028). For longer stays or multiple entries, an e-visa is required, which can be applied for online.
Cambodia: German nationals require a visa to enter the country. This can be obtained in advance (e.g. as an e-visa online) or as a visa on arrival at international border crossings. Since 1 July 2024, registration via the "Cambodia e-arrival" app is also required.
Laos: A visa is also required for Laos. This can be applied for in advance at the Laotian embassy or obtained as a visa on arrival at international airports and some land borders.

There are no compulsory vaccinations for direct entry from Germany to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, unless you are travelling from a yellow fever area.
The Federal Foreign Office strongly recommends that you check your standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute (www.rki.de) before travelling and update them if necessary. Hepatitis A is the recommended travel vaccination in all three countries. Depending on the duration and type of trip, vaccinations against dengue fever, hepatitis B, typhoid, rabies and Japanese encephalitis may also be advisable. Individual travel medical advice is essential for your health.
The climate in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos is predominantly tropical, characterised by a dry season and a rainy season. Temperatures remain high and warm all year round.
Vietnam: Due to its length, the climate varies. The north (Hanoi, Halong Bay) has four seasons with a cooler dry season from October to April. Central Vietnam (Hue, Hoi An) offers an ideal dry season for beach holidays from February to August. The south (Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong Delta) has a tropical climate all year round; the dry season from December to April is the most pleasant here.
Cambodia: Experience a dry season from November to March, which is ideal for travelling, although March to May can be very hot. The rainy season from April to October often brings short, heavy showers in the afternoon.
Laos: Here too, the dry season from November to May is the most popular time to travel, with more pleasant temperatures from November to February/March and a hotter phase until May, before the rainy season sets in from May/June to October.
