After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel by your tour guide. Firstly, you will explore the oldest pyramid complex in Egypt: in Saqqara, you will visit the world-famous step pyramid of Djoser - an architectural masterpiece and forerunner of all later pyramids. Your tour guide will explain the significance of this historic site and show you other fascinating tombs in the surrounding area. A day full of fascinating contrasts between pharaohs, Islamic architecture and lively bazaar life: After breakfast, your full-day city tour begins with a visit to the world-famous Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square. One of the most important collections of ancient Egyptian art awaits you here - including impressive statues and royal mummies.
You will then travel to the historic Citadel of Saladin, which towers majestically over Cairo. In the centre of the complex, you will visit the imposing alabaster mosque of Muhammad Ali, one of the city's most famous landmarks with a magnificent panoramic view. In the immediate vicinity are two of Cairo's most beautiful religious buildings: the Sultan Hassan Mosque from the 14th century, a masterpiece of Mamluk architecture, and the neighbouring Al-Rifa'i Mosque, which is known as the resting place of Egyptian kings and the last Shah of Persia.
In the afternoon, immerse yourself in the colourful hustle and bustle of Khan El Khalili Bazaar, Cairo's famous oriental market. Between winding alleyways, the scent of spices, ornate craft stalls and teahouses, you will experience the lively soul of the old city. Optionally, if you like, you can then experience Cairo from the perspective of the Nile on a boat trip with a picnic around the island of El Gesirah (on request).
A cultural journey through Egypt's Christian history and the fascinating world of royal mummies: Your day begins with a guided tour through the historic neighbourhood of Coptic Cairo, one of the oldest Christian districts in Cairo. Here you will visit important religious sites such as the famous Hanging Church (El-Muallaqa), built over the ruins of a Roman fort, and the Abu Serga Church, where, according to tradition, the Holy Family found refuge on their flight to Egypt. A walk through the narrow streets of the neighbourhood impressively conveys the spiritual and cultural significance of these early Christian sites. After a lunch break, the tour continues to the modern National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation (NMEC) in Al-Fustat - an architecturally outstanding new building dedicated to the entire history of Egypt from prehistoric times to the present day. A particular highlight is the Royal Mummies Hall, where you can come face to face with famous rulers such as Ramses II and Queen Hatshepsut. The mummies are presented in a specially designed, museum-quality environment - an experience that is as honourable as it is impressive.

German citizens require a passport to enter the country, which must be valid for at least 6 months after travelling.
German citizens require a visa to enter the country. This can be applied for prior to entry at an Egyptian mission abroad, since December 2017 as an "e-visa" or also on arrival. "Visa on arrival" is included in the group tour.
Your visa (details and exceptions)
For all trips to countries requiring visas, we can arrange the application for the necessary individual visas (tourist/private visas) for Germans, Austrians and Swiss via the professional Visa Service Berlin. They will organise the procurement of your entry visa quickly, competently, reliably and cost-effectively. When sending in your passport and forms, please observe the deadlines set by the consulates. If these deadlines are exceeded or you require a separate individual visa for other reasons, you may incur considerable additional costs.
For the procurement of individual visas (from 15 working days processing time) we charge 69 € per person plus visa/consular fees of the embassy, necessary DHL costs, possible courier trips or express fees. Express visas (up to 7 working days) cost €89 per person, e-visas and online applications (from 7 working days processing time) cost from €59 per person, plus any additional costs mentioned above.

There are no vaccination requirements for direct entry from Germany. The Federal Foreign Office recommends checking the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults (see: www.rki.de) when travelling and completing them if necessary.
The country's climate ranges from Mediterranean on the Mediterranean coast and in the Nile Delta to desert-like in Cairo, Middle and Upper Egypt.
The best time to visit Egypt is mid-March to mid-May and mid-September to mid-November. This excludes the very hot and dry summer months and the somewhat cooler winter months, when temperatures are lower, especially at night. Depending on the region - whether on the Mediterranean coast, on the Red Sea, in the Nile Valley or in the Arabian Desert - there are small differences.
In spring, from March to June, a hot sand and dust wind from the south, the Chamsin, often blows through the country.
