Your private paradise is hidden off the coast of Tanzania in the protected Shungimbili Island Marine Reserve between the Tanzanian mainland and Mafia Island. From the island, you can reach Thanda Private Island within an hour by private boat transfer. The dreamlike island has two beautiful Tanzanian bandas, idyllically situated between palm trees on the secluded white sandy beach of Thanda. In these additional houses, you can simply be on your own or enjoy massages and beauty treatments. Or you can even spend the whole night here à la Robinson Crusoe. Made exclusively from wood and bamboo, the traditional bandas will amaze you with design details such as unique wood carvings. On the upper floor of each bamboo house is a bedroom with a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet. Impressive and pioneering: the villa was built entirely on a wooden platform, without any intervention in the natural structure of the island. The villa could be dismantled at any time without a trace and removed without any damage to nature!
No pile has ever been driven into the sand of the island floor. The island's ecosystem is unspoilt and in a natural balance. Sustainable resource extraction takes place on the island itself. Thanda is completely self-sufficient, producing its own resources such as electricity and water for the villa and small outbuildings using the latest technology.
Thanda's own marine biologist has already counted around 200 species of fish. The reef is breathtakingly beautiful! Fascinated by the beauty and diversity of the corals, you will want to spend the whole day snorkelling against the backdrop of this dream island. You will spot dolphins, turtles and, of course, "Nemo".
Gigantic whale sharks up to 20 metres in size are at home here in the winter months. The experienced skipper team will accompany you on your private encounter with the gentle giants of the sea. It is a unique experience of a lifetime to float in the warm blue water with these peaceful animals. Against the backdrop of a seabed adorned with starfish, the colossi glide calmly through the crystal-clear sea and open their mouths in search of plankton. German citizens require a passport valid for at least six months after travelling. A visa is required for a fee. Applications can be made at the Tanzanian embassy in Berlin or at international airports when travelling to Tanzania.

There are no vaccination requirements for direct entry from Germany. The Federal Foreign Office recommends the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults (see: www.rki.de) when travelling and complete them if necessary.
Tanzania has a tropical climate. Due to its location on the equator and the resulting year-round mild climate, the country and the offshore islands can be travelled to all year round.
