German citizens require a passport for entry, which must be valid for at least 30 days beyond the date of departure and have at least two free pages for visa stamps. If travelling on to neighbouring countries and then returning to South Africa, there must also be sufficient pages for stamps.
If you are travelling from Germany, you do not need to provide proof of vaccinations. The Federal Foreign Office recommends checking and completing the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults when travelling (www.rki.de).
The climate during your cruise along the African coast in December is influenced by the respective geographical locations and the prevailing climate zones.
Ghana: In Tema you can expect a tropical savannah climate, with warm and dry conditions in December. Temperatures average around 30°C during the day and rarely drop below 24°C at night.
At sea: During the days at sea, you can expect a moderate climate with pleasant temperatures and a fresh sea breeze. Temperatures are warm during the day and pleasantly cool at night.
Namibia: Whale Bay has a hot desert climate in December. Daytime temperatures can reach 25°C and drop to around 15°C at night. Humidity is low and there are large temperature fluctuations between day and night.
South Africa: Cape Town experiences the start of the South African summer in December with warm and dry conditions. Temperatures range between 20°C and 28°C. It is an ideal time to explore the city and its surroundings, as extreme heat spells are rare.
