In the morning, you will fly from Germany, Austria or Switzerland to Amman with Royal Jordanian Airlines. Your personal assistant will accompany you through the immigration process, after which you will be transferred to the Four Seasons Hotel Amman. The capital of Jordan captivates with its unique blend of old and new, from the cultural and historical surroundings to the exciting hustle and bustle of the city centre.

Romanesque architecture at its best: the ancient site of Jerash is the "Pompeii of the East". Magnificent colonnaded streets, gates and squares are well preserved. You have plenty of time for the imposing temple complex and the amphitheatre - the view over the huge complex alone is worth the climb to the top row of seats. The remains of numerous early Byzantine churches and Umayyad buildings also make the excursion extremely impressive. Experience warm Jordanian hospitality over lunch with a family. Hummus, schwarma, mansaf... the list of Jordanian delicacies is long. Traditional fine dining is served in the evening at the Tawaheen al-Hawa restaurant (Windmill Restaurant). Indulge yourself in an authentic Arabian atmosphere.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before setting off towards the desert. Small forts and fortresses populate the arid surroundings. Qasr Kharaneh rises like a mirage out of the flat desert and is the oldest surviving desert castle. Its original function has been forgotten, but to this day it is considered one of the earliest examples of Islamic architecture in the region. Qasr Amra, just a few kilometres further on, looks more playful with its vaults and domes. The frescoes, which are spread across all the rooms and show an astonishing variety in form and theme, are well worth seeing. The Azraq Oasis is worth a stop, as it is a resting place for hundreds of migratory birds; numerous ducks, larks and lapwings, as well as eagles, use the wetlands on their journey to Africa. The neighbouring Qasr Axraq was built from black basalt, the buildings and walls are grouped around a large square with a mosque in the middle. Finally, in Madaba you can admire some of the world's most beautiful Byzantine mosaics, especially the famous depiction of Israel from the 6th century. The Hikayet Sitti restaurant awaits you here in a cosy vaulted room. Continue to Mount Nebo, from where you have a sweeping view over the mountains, the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. According to the story, this is where Moses saw the Promised Land. You will be back at the hotel for dinner.
After breakfast, you leave the Jordanian capital and drive to the 300-year-old Bedouin village of Dana. It is located at the end of the Wadi Dana on a hill and offers a fascinating view over the area. The approximately two-kilometre walk winds along the edge of the village, through terraced gardens lined with local craft shops. You will meet locals, admire original Ottoman architecture and learn all about the village's varied history. You then head to the crusader castle of Shobak, which is situated on a small hill. It was built in 1115 to control the caravan route between Syria and Egypt. You will spend the night in Petra, right at the entrance to the historical sites.

After breakfast, you will have plenty of time to explore the wonders of Petra. No other place in Jordan is as mystical, beautiful and unique as the city of the Nabataeans. The people "built" Petra as the capital of their empire more than 2000 years ago in the Wadi Musa. Temples and buildings were carved into the pink-coloured stone with incredible craftsmanship. After walking through the 1.5 km long Siq, a narrow gorge whose rock faces rise up to 100 metres, the Al Khazneh treasure house initially only reveals itself to you through a narrow gap: a keyhole moment before the wonders of Petra. The buildings and tombs carved into the rock are marvels of architecture, rich in detail and elaborately decorated. If you like, take the 822 steps up to the Al-Deir monastery, from where the view over the gorges of the region is simply fantastic. Choose whether you want to make your way through the Siq to and from Petra on foot or on horseback. After an exciting day, you can enjoy a cool beer and delicious Jordanian specialities for dinner in the casual Cave Bar.
Haven't seen everything yet? You have another day to explore the many hidden secrets of Petra at your leisure. In the evening you will experience Petra in a completely new light: illuminated by hundreds of candles, the treasure house shines in a magical light. Music and stories make the evening a mystical experience in a class of its own.
Just a short drive away is the old Little Petra caravanserai in Siq Al-Barid. Everything here is a little smaller than in the "big sister". Tombs, temples and cisterns are carved into the rock, and a few Nabataean frescoes have also been preserved.
Your destination is Wadi Rum. Desert, vastness, silence and a seemingly endless horizon: Wadi Rum transports you to a completely different world. Red rock giants rise out of the sand and have already been the backdrop for films such as "Lawrence of Arabia", "The Martian" and "Transformers". Experience gorges, springs, dunes and rock formations on a two-hour 4×4 jeep tour. Then it's off to the excavations of Umm er-Rasas. This important Christian pilgrimage site was built in the 5th century. The particularly well-preserved St Stephen's complex is home to four churches, a chapel, a baptistery and four courtyards. Exceptionally well-preserved mosaics depict cities on both sides of the Jordan, scenes from the Nile, birds, boats, boys fishing and hunting and much more in bright colours and fascinating detail. The 14 metre high Sylite tower, where Christian hermits probably lived, is also well worth seeing. The tour then continues to al-Maghtas, also known as "Bethany beyond the Jordan". You are on historical ground: According to the Bible, Jesus was baptised here by John the Baptist. The site was on the pilgrimage route from Jerusalem to Mount Nebo from early on.
In the afternoon you reach the Dead Sea, the deepest body of water in the world with a salt content of 28 %. Float in the warm water - it is practically impossible to sink. The mineral-rich mist above the water, the black mud and the water have a healing effect on joints and skin. You will have dinner at your hotel right by the water.

German citizens require a visa to enter Jordan. At the time of entry into Jordan, the passport must still have a minimum validity of 6 months.
A single-entry visa can be applied for at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Jordan in Berlin, but is also issued at Queen Alia International and Aqaba airports. The visa fee of currently 40,- JOD (Jordanian Dinar) must be paid immediately at the airports in Jordanian Dinar (exchange offices/ ATM available).
There are no vaccination requirements for direct entry from Germany. The Federal Foreign Office recommends checking the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults (see: www.rki.de) when travelling and completing them if necessary.

Jordan lies in the climatic transition zone between the Mediterranean climate of the Mediterranean region and the desert climate. The west of the country is characterised by warm, dry summers and mild, humid winters. There is a large difference between day and night temperatures in the desert. The best times to visit Jordan are March - May and September - November. You can swim in the Red Sea all year round.
