5★ Verdura Resort, a Rocco Forte Hotel, Sicily

Relaxed luxury resort on almost two kilometres of private coastline in the south of the island of Sicily
The Verdura Resort, a Rocco Forte Hotel, is an oasis of well-being, relaxation and enjoyment set against the backdrop of enchanting Sicilian villages, ancient Greek and Roman sites and the beautiful blue Mediterranean Sea in the south of the Italian island of Sicily. A first-class hotel with spa and golf awaits you on the sun-kissed Mediterranean coast in a rural setting. Olive trees, orange groves, lavender, rosemary and white sandy beaches. Tennis courts, water sports, championship golf and children's clubs. Infinity pools, thalassotherapy and the flagship spa. The farm-to-table concept is also popular: fine dining, healthy eating with organic ingredients grown here and world-famous local wines. The luxurious eco-architecture by architect Flavio Albanese and the fine materials used, with designer lamps and modern four-poster beds in dark wood, create a wonderful environment in the style of Sicilian manor houses. Great attention is paid to sustainability and environmental protection, specifically through solar technology and the use of rainwater to supply the golf course.

"I was there and really enjoyed my stay. The huge, 230-hectare Verdura Resort also offers plenty of space for the hotel's own garden and the popular farm-to-table concept. Home-grown vegetables and herbs are used daily in the kitchen. The hotel also produces its own olive oil. Guests can take a cookery course with head chef Fulvio Pierangelini and use the excellent ingredients themselves."
