The manor house of the Pädaste estate was extensively and lovingly restored for two years in order to restore the dignity and nobility that the house has retained for centuries.
This exquisite manor house in an idyllic park by the Baltic Sea had remained untouched for decades. Over the last fifteen years it has been saved from decay and slowly brought back to life, culminating in a final two-year restoration project that was completed in June 2008. The origins of the manor house date back to the 14th century Walls now at the heart of the manor house. In the second half of the 19th century, the house was considerably enlarged and given a new façade, hence the harmonious dimensions and clean lines that give the manor house its current character.

The 14 rooms at the Manor are beautifully furnished with luxurious fabrics, understated cutting-edge technology and great attention to detail. German citizens require a passport to enter the country, which must be valid for 3 months beyond the date of return. Citizens of the EU, Switzerland and Liechtenstein do not require a visa to travel to Estonia. The Baltic states are members of the Schengen Agreement. A valid passport is required when travelling to Estonia. Children also require their own identity document (children's passport with their own passport photo). Children's entries in a parent's passport are not recognised.
There are no vaccination requirements for direct entry from Germany. The Federal Foreign Office recommends checking the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults (see: www.rki.de) when travelling and completing them if necessary.
The best times to visit Estonia are spring, autumn and winter. Tallinn, the capital and cultural centre of Estonia, borders the Gulf of Finland and is characterised by a continental climate with an oceanic influence. Due to its latitude, which is practically the same as that of Stockholm in Sweden, it snows heavily in winter and therefore has its charm. The rather short spring lasts from April to mid-June, temperatures rise significantly and the days get longer. In summer, mild heat characterises the wetter days.
The euro has been the legal tender in Estonia since 1 January 2011, and cashless payments are possible almost everywhere, especially with Visa and MasterCard, less frequently American Express and Diners. The Maestro symbol must be visible on EC cards for them to be accepted, or they must be Visa Electron cards.
