The charming Turtle Inn is located near the village of Placencia in the district of Stann Creek, Belize.
The Turtle Inn is located between the Garifuna settlement of Seine Bight and the charming Creole fishing village of Placencia at the tip of a narrow, 26-mile-long sandy peninsula. To the east, the Caribbean Sea is fringed by a patchwork of coral islands and the UNESCO World Heritage Belize Barrier Reef.
Directly behind the Turtle Inn to the west are the calm waters of Placencia Lagoon and spectacular views of the Maya Mountains and Victoria Peak. South of the Placencia Peninsula is the Monkey River, formed from the Swasey and Bladen rivers that flow from the jungle-covered peaks of the Maya Mountains.

Sunset Spa, Turtle Inn
Located in an open-air Balinese rice house with hand-painted murals inspired by ancient art, the Sunset Spa relaxes those who have spent a full day touring, swimming, snorkelling and diving. Organic ingredients from the region are used for all treatments. At the Coppolas' request, the spa retreat in Belize specialises in traditional Thai massages, performed by a professional team who have studied these ancient techniques at the sacred Wat Pho temple in Bangkok.
Restaurant Mare
Fresh seafood and traditional Italian cuisine come together in the Turtle Inn's flagship restaurant. Local fish is delivered daily from the fertile reefs off the coast, and fresh vegetables come from our organic garden. The daily changing menu offers dishes such as ceviche and gazpacho, sea salt crusted fish and a selection of pizzas cooked to order in a wood-fired oven. A traditional Dutch-Indonesian rijsttafel dinner is served on Mondays and Thursdays. Mare offers a relaxed dining experience under the high vaulted thatched roof with an incredible view of the sea.
Gauguin Grill
The beachfront restaurant serves fresh, charcoal-grilled seafood such as lobster, jumbo shrimps and snapper on woven plates, accompanied by a selection of Balinese-inspired sauces and spices. The tables are just a few metres from the sea and offer a fantastic view of the offshore cayes (small islands) and the starry night sky. The sand-floored bar and lounge also offers an excellent selection of Belize-brewed beer, wine and cocktails.
Aunt Luba's kitchen
The hotel's own authentic Belizean restaurant, Auntie Luba's, overlooks the calm, shallow waters of Placencia Lagoon. The rustic restaurant's menu features regional dishes such as curried chicken, coconut shrimp, seasonal conch fritters, beef stew and the best homemade key lime pie. The atmosphere is casual yet festive, and a memorable event includes ending the evening with marshmallows by the fire and lighting wish lanterns over the lagoon.

The Turtle Inn is now offering an exciting new wine tasting package in the famous "Wine Aquarium," designed by Laurent Deroo and built by local Belizean architect Margarito M. Ortiz. The "Wine Aquarium" consists of a wall-to-wall glass wine cellar and contains more than 1,200 bottles of award-winning wines from several Sonoma and Napa County wineries, as well as Francis Ford Coppola Winery and Inglenook Estate in Napa County, along with many other wines from Chile, Argentina, Italy, France and the United States.
Scuba Diving
The Turtle Inn offers an attentive, professional diving service that is specialised and attentive to the safety and individual needs of guests. Diving, snorkelling and a wide range of PADI certification courses are offered for both beginners and experienced divers.

Open Water Diver (certification received): The PADI Open Water Diver is the most popular diving programme in the world and your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure. The course lasts four days and includes all material, equipment, four dives in the sea and the provisional certification card upon completion of the course.
Open Water Junior Diver (certification received): The PADI Open Water Diver is the most popular diving programme in the world and your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure. The Junior programme allows children between the ages of 10 and 14 to obtain a diving certificate. The course lasts four days and includes all material, equipment, four dives in the sea and the provisional diving licence upon completion of the course.
Adventures in Diving/Advanced Diver Course: The Adventures in Diving course is designed to introduce scuba diving to beginners and experienced divers. This course includes a brief overview and discussion of your specific diving interests and five dives in the ocean.
Open Water Diver recommendation: If you have the signed papers from your instructor at home confirming completion of the course and the limited water area, we will take care of the rest. Four sea dives in two days and you are certified!
Scuba Review/Refresher Course: Scuba Review is a quick confined water course that will help those of you who have not dived for a while or want to familiarise yourselves with newly purchased equipment.

German nationals do not require a visa to enter Belize as long as the trip does not exceed 30 days. A passport that is valid for at least six months and has at least two free pages is sufficient for entry. Children require their own identity document. A visa is only required for a stay of more than one month. Entry is free of charge, but a fee of currently USD 19 (by land) and USD 37.50 (by air) is charged on departure. A return or onward flight ticket must also be presented on entry.
If you are travelling from Germany, you do not need to provide proof of vaccinations. The Federal Foreign Office recommends checking and completing the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults when travelling (www.rki.de).
Belize has a subtropical climate. The average annual temperature is around 26°C. The months of November to March are fairly dry and the temperatures are pleasant. From April to the end of May, it is usually very warm and still quite dry.
